Hello! I'm Aubrey and I am a Birth Doula serving greater chicagoland! My interest in birth has been a consistent theme throughout my life. Long before starting my own family, I found myself asking every little detail of the birth stories shared by friends and family. However, my true passion for the subject emerged during my own pregnancy and through the birth of my daughter. It was then that I dove into a myriad of birth resources, podcasts, and books, which is a habit that continues to this day! As a firm believer in the power of education, I advocate for individuals to approach their birthing experiences with confidence, armed with knowledge. This philosophy led me to pursue a career as a doula, where I can actively support and empower others during their own amazing journeys!

I am a solo practice Certified Nurse Midwife with over 10 years of experience attending births in various settings in the Chicago area -- half of my midwifery career in several different types of hospitals; and the other half in home birth and at a free-standing birth center. My passion is to provide individualized, holistic, trauma-informed care to individuals and families seeking personal, loving support on their pregnancy, birth, and reproductive wellness journeys. Clients in my care will note that I am very knowledgable, warm, confident, and offer my service in the spirit of partnership with my clients. Anti-oppression is very important to me, and clients will find that my practice is inclusive, aware of the impact of social issues on health outcomes, and that I embrace a Health at Every Size approach. Additionally, my co-owner is a traditional birth worker who offers all of our clients the option of hiring her for individualized Birth Mentorship, as well as provides all home birth clients a postpartum closing. Her herbal products are also included in the birth kit, for a well-supported postpartum.

I have a BA in pre-medicine and I am currently working towards a master's degree in reproductive science and medicine, which I expect to complete in June 2025. I am planning to apply for physician's assistant programs next, with the goal of working as an OB/Gyn provider. Being a doula allows me to connect with and support the women in my community while I am in school to become a medical provider. Because of my background in science and medicine, my practice as a doula is research-based. My personal breastfeeding journey started with the home birth of my first son in 2003. Like many mothers I struggled with breastfeeding. I found La Leche League (LLL), what a blessing in disguise! With the help I was given, I knew this was the path for me to help other mothers. I became a peer to peer breastfeeding counselor within the LLL organization. In 2005 my second son was born via an emergency cesarean delivery,14 weeks early! I learned so much about lactation & breastfeeding a premature baby. In 2008, this evolved into working in the hospital where he was born as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I studied and learned more about human lactation and I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2009. I worked in a hospital setting for 15 years. ​ My experience with two very different breastfeeding situations has fueled my passion to help all parents meet their specific lactation and breastfeeding goals. I graduated from Union Institute & University in 2015 with my Bachelors of Science in Maternal Child Health with an emphasis in Human Lactation.
