I began babysitting when I was 13 for some of the neighbor kids. Having a big family with a lot of younger children around, really gave me the experience I needed for in the childcare field. As I grew older I would babysit for multiple families in the community I grew up in. I also ran my church nursery, and was the assistant director at Eagle Ridge Child Outreach at another church for the summer. After moving to Chicago in 2016 I began babysitting as needed for a family with a premature newborn in the evenings. I then moved on to a part time nanny position with a 6 month old until they moved when she was 18 months. I then worked as an as needed babysitter again while working at grocery store. I then moved on to overnights at Maryville Crisis Nursery and then full time nannying with infants and toddlers. Growing up in a close-knit Mexican household, I was always drawn to community and mentorship, especially for girls. After earning my degrees in psychology and Spanish, I worked with survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual abuse. Becoming a mom ignited my deep curiosity about pregnancy and birth. I became fascinated by the process, eager to learn everything about labor and advocate for my own birth experience. After having profoundly empowering births, I realized that every woman deserves a birth that is powerful and free from trauma. This curiosity soon grew into a passion for supporting other women in my community. In my journey as a home visitor, working with Spanish-speaking moms, I saw firsthand the lack of resources and perinatal education available to them.
