It is with pleasure that I write this review for Veronica Hinojosa, who served as my postpartum doula and night nurse. During one of the most vulnerable times in my life, Veronica’s motherly presence provided an immense sense of comfort and reassurance. Her warmth, kindness, and professionalism made all the difference in my postpartum journey. Veronica’s expertise and guidance were invaluable, particularly when it came to bottle feeding and establishing a daytime nap routine. Her advice was practical and effective, helping us create a rhythm that worked well for our baby. More than anything, I always felt secure knowing my little one was in her capable hands. Her natural talent for soothing and caring for infants gave me the peace of mind to truly rest and recharge for the following day. Additionally, Veronica’s dedication extended beyond her own services—when she was unavailable, she ensured we had reliable backup care through one of her trusted associates. This level of commitment and foresight further demonstrated her professionalism and reliability. I am incredibly grateful for Veronica’s support and would recommend her to any family in need of a compassionate, knowledgeable, and dependable postpartum doula or night nurse. She has been an invaluable part of our early parenting experience, and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Mara was wonderful!!! I was such a hormonal mess getting home from the hospital, and Mara helped me so much. I was afraid to let anyone hold my baby, but Mara was an exception. She was trustworthy in every way. She was a warm presence in our home. I also credit my baby sleeping through the night to Mara's nightly tending to him. She taught him patience and self-settling. I'm very grateful!

I’m Jen Ballew, a birth and postpartum practitioner with over a decade of experience supporting families through the sacred threshold of bringing new life into the world. I believe birth is not just a physical event—it’s a profound rite of passage that deserves reverence, preparation, and care. My work blends somatic wisdom, trauma-informed support, and a deep respect for each family’s unique path. I guide parents in reconnecting with their inner knowing, understanding their options, and approaching both birth and postpartum with clarity, confidence, and trust. As the founder of The Parenthood Project, I’ve created a holistic framework that weaves together evidence-based education, nervous system regulation, and community-centered care. My postpartum support is especially focused on helping parents recover in body and spirit, adjust to new rhythms, and feel truly nurtured in the early weeks and months after birth. From emotional processing and newborn care guidance to sleep support and somatic healing practices, I hold space for the full spectrum of this tender transition. You don’t have to do this alone—this journey is meant to be witnessed, honored, and held.
Jen was my doula for the birth of my second child. I was determined to do a hospital VBAC with minimal intervention and Jen was instrumental in helping me design and realize my birth plan. I was immediately drawn to her confident and down-to-earth energy; I knew she was strong enough for me to lean on, but would not overpower my voice. I appreciated that she was was supportive of my evidence-based values but also challenged me to consider some of my choices in a different way. For example, she helped me get connected to more supportive midwife care at HOAG when I was experiencing some pushback from my original OBGYN group on my VBAC plans. During the birth, Jen felt like a stable pillar of support. I felt more confident in my own ability to have a low-intervention birth knowing she was there by our side. There was a point when I wanted to give up, but Jen held my hand through the pain and helped me find that confidence in myself again. I know my husband was also grateful for her steady leadership and guidance. Jen taught us some critical counter-pressure techniques and helped me advocate for things that made my birth experience more comfortable in the hospital setting (inflatable tub, laughing gas, etc.). Overall, I had a really wonderful birth experience with Jen by my side. I wish I had her with me for the birth of my firstborn.

Hello! My name is Georgia and I am a trained postpartum doula servicing the Los Angeles region. I have been in the child development field for over 10 years, working as a Certified Child Life Specialist in children’s hospitals and in foster care agencies around the country. I specialize in working with families in high-stress situations, working with them to develop coping techniques and utilizing wellness strategies to promote a sense of peace in the home. As a postpartum doula, I assist in those delicate few weeks as baby is being integrated into the family: feeding support, sleep support, infant care support, and sibling support all included. Education is empowerment and I will always work to provide you with all of the resources at my disposal to ensure that you and your entire family feel equipped to make the decisions that feel right for your unique unit. As a specialist in child development, I also provide insight and education on how best to support the optimal cognitive, physical and emotional development of not only the newest member of the family but also older siblings who may have a hard time adjusting to a new baby in the home. I look forward to collaborating with you and providing you with the nurturing care you need to thrive in your postpartum months.
We were incredibly fortunate to have Georgia as our day doula during a challenging time. We hired her last minute after I had to stay in the hospital longer than expected due to postpartum complications, and she was a lifesaver from the start. She stepped in to support my husband at home with our newborn and continued to help us once I returned home, providing invaluable care for both our baby and my recovery. Georgia went above and beyond in every way imaginable. Her calming and kind presence was a godsend during what was a traumatic and overwhelming period. From picking up our favorite fruit and bringing coffee to helping with my first outing alone with the baby and managing my medications, she anticipated our needs before we even knew we had them. Her support extended beyond the practical—she helped us find our footing as new parents and brought us together as a family unit. Not only was she wonderful with our son, but she also provided the emotional and physical care we so desperately needed. We felt truly supported and cared for in every moment. Anyone who hires Georgia will be making one of the best decisions ever. She is a remarkable doula and an even more incredible human being. We cannot recommend her highly enough!

My premier service includes overnight care for baby, positive attachment care, depending on the age and family need - sleep conditioning , feeding scheduling also lactation support for mom.
Judith was the night nurse for our twins from 0-3 months, and from the day we came home from the hospital she taught us not only how to get the twins to sleep at night (and not wake up), but also how to care for them during the day. She set us up with eating and sleeping schedules that would best benefit their nighttime sleep patterns, and advised us on which swaddles, white noise machines, formulas, and bottles to buy. Her expertise helped us in so many ways. She was quick to notice a couple of dietary issues the twins had, which saved us days if not weeks of nonstop crying babies. She was calm and confident and professional, and by the end of her 12-week period with us the twins were regularly sleeping through the night. Judith made the first weeks of our twins’ lives exponentially more manageable and we highly recommend her.

I’m a DONA-trained birth and postpartum doula who blends city grit with grounded, nature-rooted care. My journey began supporting friends through birth and postpartum while navigating the unpredictable life of a military family. A path that taught me flexibility, compassion, and a deep respect for the strength of parents. Before becoming a doula, I worked as a corrections officer, where I honed the skills to stay calm under pressure and advocate fiercely for others. Today, I bring that same steady confidence to supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. Once a city girl, now deeply connected to nature, I offer a balance of strength and softness to every family I serve. As a mom to two spirited boys and two lovable fur babies, I know firsthand how messy, magical, and transformative those early days can be. Whether you’re preparing for birth or adjusting to life with a newborn, I’m here to walk beside you with knowledge, warmth, and zero judgment.

We are Shayna & Jamie, two nurses who also happen to be mamas with a heart to educate every household on the basics of pediatric illnesses as well as CPR & choking! We offer in-home, private educational courses for groups of care givers, families or friends and are starting to book out courses for the next couple of months. Our courses provide the same education of a CPR course without the formalities of a certification... meaning you will walk away with the information you need to adequately perform CPR without a certificate & have the bonus of one-on-one guidance with Jamie, a trained American Heart Association Instructor and seasoned ER/Trauma Nurse. Along with the CPR course, Shayna (a pediatric nurse) will provide an in-depth head to toe overview of the most common pediatric illnesses, how to manage them at home, when to see a doctor & when to go to the ER. At the end of the course, there is an option to do a Q&A where you have uninterrupted time with trained professionals as well as hands on practice with manikins to practice performing CPR. Our courses typically take 2 hours between set up and take down. The course currently runs $75/ person. Since this is a private course, you get the freedom to choose who you'd like to attend & invite your chosen people. We are based out of Orange County & have a class participant minimum based on location & distance. Travel fees may apply. Our schedule is flexible with weekends, evenings and morning slots available & we book on a first come, first serve basis. Our vision for this business is that we would get into every home possible, equipping and empowering parents and caregivers to feel confident in their abilities to manage common pediatric illnesses and emergencies. We look forward to working alongside of you!
The class was so helpful and well thought out. It was a great refresher for CPR and provided lots of new info for child safety that I now have stashed in my back pocket. After taking this class I felt much more confident and less scared when taking care of our baby when she had a cold. The info shared throughout this class is so important for moms, dads, grandparents, and all caregivers. It’s a bonus to have it taught by two professionals with such extensive backgrounds in the areas. I wish this was a requirement prior to giving birth! Great job, ladies and that your for the invaluable information and safety tips.

My journey into the world of doula work is deeply rooted in my personal experiences and commitment to serving marginalized communities. As a Black Jamaican queer woman who has navigated the complexities of raising a family and building a career in diverse environments, I have come to understand the profound impact of culturally competent and empathetic support during the transformative experiences of reproductive care and justice framework, childbirth, lactation, postpartum, newborn care, bereavement and grief support. I began my career as a full-spectrum doula inspired by my own birthing challenges and experiences, I am a mother of 4 (twin daughter 33 and sons 25 and 22), however, what struck me harder than my own challenges, were the facts, stories, challenges and barriers that black mothers/birthers and their infants were experiencing. The Black maternal/prenatal and infant mortality rate in America is alarming and according to the CDC, “Black women in the United States are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than White women. In 2022, the maternal mortality rate for Black women/birthers was 49.5 deaths per 100,000 live births, which is higher than the rates for White (19.0), Hispanic (16.9), and Asian (13.2) women/birthers. Some factors that contribute to these disparities include: Variation in quality healthcare, Underlying chronic conditions, Structural racism, Implicit bias, and lack of access to paid parental leave.” I wanted to be part of the solution, I began by becoming a newborn care specialist and now I've expanded my services to include full-spectrum doula, radical reproductive justice advocacy, death, grief, end-of-life doula and future IBCLC and midwife. Beginning with self, propelled me into what had been calling me for decades. Here I am, more ready than ever to expand my career and serve my community. Helping others understand the unique challenges black birthers face, is one of my goals, understanding the problems is the first step in working towards the solution. The realization I found is that many Black families do not receive the support they need to thrive. These realizations propelled me into expanding my career as a newborn care specialist to include full-spectrum doula, lactation educator, death and end-of-life doula and currently working towards becoming a childbirth educator, IBCLC and eventually a midwife. My work has always been centered around advocacy for BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ communities, ensuring that all families, regardless of their background, receive the compassionate and personalized care they deserve. In my practice I center black and brown folks and prioritize a holistic approach that encompasses not only the physical aspects of reproductive health care but also the emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being of my clients, their partners and their family members. I believe that they all deserve to feel empowered, respected, and supported throughout the birthing person's journey and other reproductive health care scenarios. This belief drives me to provide comprehensive care that includes prenatal visits, continuous labor support, immediate postpartum lactation support, postpartum visits, newborn care and when needed abortion support, bereavement and grief support. My goal is to create a safer and nurturing environment where my clients, their partners, and family members, can feel heard, valued, and confident in the birthing person’s birth choices and beyond. Whatever their reproductive heath care needs may be. One of the core tenets of my philosophy is the importance of community and connection. I actively engage with support groups, and I'm looking forward to connecting with clinics, hospitals, community and faith-based organizations, and through social media, to support and advocate for reproductive health care rights and justice, recruiting clients and building a network of support. I understand that addressing the disproportionately high rates of Black/African American infant and maternal/prenatal/infant mortality rates in this country requires a collective effort. By fostering strong relationships within communities, I aim to raise awareness of the value of Black doula support and ensure that more Black families have access to these vital services. I am committed to continuous learning and professional development. Attending trainings on lactation, trauma-informed care, full spectrum doula support, newborn care, lactation education, bereavement and grief support, billing and including sliding scales to increase accessibility, and data collection allows me to provide the highest standard of care and to be inclusive to my clients and my community. Moreover, I value the opportunity to present my work and facilitate client support groups, as these activities help to amplify the voices of Black families and promote best practices and cultural traditions, within the doula community. What matters most to me when supporting clients and their families is their autonomy and dignity. EVERY birthing person should have the RIGHT to make informed decisions about their care, and it is my role to provide them with the information, resources, and emotional support they need to do so. I strive to be a compassionate advocate, a reliable partner, and a source of strength for my clients, their families and the communities I serve, by helping them navigate their unique paths to parenthood, reproductive health care, midlife care and through death/dying/end-of-life care, bereavement, and grief, with confidence and grace and to provide support to their folks and to communities in which they live.
“I wish I knew about Bornbir sooner, as it's so important to surround yourself with experts who understand during those overwhelming moments and share evidence-based information.”
“I found my birth doula on Bornbir. After submitting my needs, I was able to connect with several awesome doulas that are within a local distance from me.”
“Bornbir is a powerful network. It makes connecting with maternal providers so much easier. It means supporting one another through this parenthood journey, no matter what stage you are in.”
