A calling that has been nurtured for 32 years. I began my career with children as a teenage babysitter. I have been fascinated by child development since I was little more than a child myself. Arriving in the USA in 1991 from Barranquilla, Colombia I was immediately employed by Universal Studios Child Care Center. This experience offered a wide range of infants to care for and deepened my desire to advance in my calling as a childcare specialist. It was in my interactions with various parents that I soon realized how what came naturally to me was frightening to some. In a very short time, parents were asking me to provide services outside of the care center. I was helping with establishing baby sleep schedules, nighttime care and creating baby routines for families. In 1998 I had met my birthing doula trainer and mentor Carmen of Gyntle Touch Birth. At Carmen’s recommendation I also became a certified massage therapist from Touch Therapy Institute. Immediately I offered my time as a birthing and prenatal doula to help low-income unwed mothers. This was my way of giving back in gratitude of my being able to pursue my life’s purpose and obtain a vast amount of experience with a diverse group of mothers. Over the last 32 years I have worked with hundreds of families, from birthing babies, preparing hospital care routines and directives, setting up nursery supplies, prenatal doula, lactation coach, night care, postpartum care, pregnancy and baby massage. Along the way I married and was blessed to deliver my own two children, with my mentor Carmen presiding as my birthing doula. A not so well-kept secret is that my husband and I are gourmet chefs, an additional service many families are excited to have made available to them. I consider myself truly blessed in that I am able to share in the most important part of a family. Incredibly, many of the children I have had a hand in raising continue to contact me throughout their life. I have had the wonderfully good fortune to attend many, confirmations, bar & bat mitzvahs, graduations from elementary, Jr. High, High School, College and recently my first Graduate school ceremony. I respect privacy and discretion, am able to travel, provide meal preparation and offer household management services.

I'm a Los Angeles birth/postpartum doula, Certified lactation counselor and a belly binding specialist. I believe that birth is sacred making it one of the most vulnerable times in our life, my duty is to protect that. I'm the birth coach guiding you, helping you understand the physiological process of birth, your birth rights and helping you through postpartum. Being a mom of two helps me understand deeper what someone may need during these times. My philosophy is "hold the mother so she can then hold her baby".

I am a traveling prenatal and postnatal Doula providing services in San Bernardino Riverside, San Diego, and Los Angeles counties in Southern California. I believe that every person needs and deserves support during the transition into parenthood and I am here to hold space and care for you in the time before and after birth. I am dedicated to ensuring that you feel seen, heard, and cared for during that transition so you can approach your role as a new parent with confidence and a deep sense of self-trust.

Marr is the best doula! She provided the best experience. She scheduled appointments through zoom, even came to my Obgyn appointment, came home after delivery. She was always in touch via messages, answering my questions. She was helpful with lots of information such as yoga exercises, breathing techniques. She guided me during contractions through messages as well. And she did her best at the hospital itself. I felt so heard when she was there for me. She was like a relative and a medical worker at the same time. Without her help I couldn’t breathe even. I felt her support entirely. Thank you so so much I love you

Hello Everyone! My name is Donna Moragne-Hanson and I am a licensed midwife in Los Angeles, CA. I provide well-woman, prenatal and postpartum care as well as the opportunity to labor in a birthing suite in the secure privacy of my home. In addition I offer childbirth education classes as well as Ala-carte Newborn and Postpartum care packages. For me, establishing trust with my client is the most fundamental and important. My practice is built on nurturing trust and learning to let go of the things we allow to interfere with trust. I want to encourage trusting in yourself; trusting in your body (and the natural process of giving birth); trusting in your baby (and their own divinely written birth story); trusting in humanity (and the world your baby is born into) and trusting in our partnership; as client and midwife. I believe, when a woman is heard, she is seen; when she is seen, she has a voice; and as her midwife I am compelled to encourage her to honor that voice; her voice. In this way I believe I am blessed with an opportunity to fulfill my role as supporter, facilitator, educator and client advocate; the ultimate calling of a midwife. For me, describing the process of birth is like trying to describe a miracle; and walking with a woman as she becomes a mother is even more profound…I am beyond words. Donna, LM, CPM

Donna gave me the confidence and calm I needed for my first birth. She was there every step of the way to answer all my questions, no matter how silly! My doctor was very impressed with how prepared and informed I was. I would love to work with Donna again.

Hello! I’m Joselyn, a proud mom who chose home births for my two little ones. Let's look back at my life before motherhood when the idea of childbirth intimidated me more than anything, thanks to all those stories and dramatic TV shows with women screaming their heads off in the delivery room. When I became pregnant with my daughter back in 2020, I dove into research, preparing my mind, body, and spirit for a positive birth—but I completely overlooked planning for postpartum and felt quite overwhelmed. Wanting to enhance my skills, I completed a 112-hour training with Bebo Mia Inc. and became certified with Pro Doula to become a full-spectrum doula. My journey also led me to explore the rich traditions of Mexican indigenous birth and postpartum practices, allowing me to honor my heritage while expanding my knowledge.

My name is Sandra Luz Alvarado and I am a postpartum doula and a Newborn Care Specialist. I was born in El Salvador and came to California 35 years ago. I am a wife (I have been with my husband almost 30 years!) and a mother to 5 beautiful children, including my youngest, who is three years old. Before becoming a doula, I worked as a graphic designer, elder care provider, and nanny. Some years back I decided to become a postpartum doula. I was interested in expanding my knowledge about infants, while supporting new mothers at the same time. I love spending time with families during this early part of life--helping them to have a smooth adjustment and close bond with their newborn. I am also trained to support women during labor and birth. My birth and postpartum doula trainings are through DONA International. My continuing education includes: childbirth education training, breastfeeding education training, and CPR/First Aid Certification. I love working with new parents and giving them all the information and skills they need to be successful and confident parents. It's such a pleasure seeing my client families blossom in the postpartum period. It would be an honor and pleasure to support you in your own parenting journey!

I come from a family of birth workers and OTs —so supporting people through this part of life has always felt familiar and important to me. Over time, I realized how much I care about helping people feel empowered and heard, especially during birth, when they need it most. I believe in practical, down-to-earth support that combines knowledge, empathy, and a warm presence (plus a little humor when it’s needed). I try to meet each person where they are and support the kind of birth they want—whether that’s quiet and private or full of conversation and teamwork. To me, birth is a shared experience, but the birthing person is always at the center. I see my role as making sure they feel respected, cared for, and in charge of their experience.

Michelle is amazing! She truly changed my birthing experience and really helped me experience the birth I desired. I called her last minute for support and she was with me every step of the way. Help help was so priceless! When I was ready to throw in the towel she coached me to bring my baby earthside in a vaginal birth after cesarean. She knew the impact of pain medication the nurses were offering. She gave me information in the heat of a moment and supported me every way! I am truly blessed to have had Michelle Sanders as my birth doula. I will never ever ever forget my experience! Highly recommended!

Hello! I’m Lindsay, a birth and postpartum doula and mom of 2. I became passionate about maternal wellness when I was expecting my first child in Norway. I received such quality care — midwives, visiting baby nurses, cushy parental leave! — but I was still missing the emotional support and expertise I needed to help me navigate a foreign medical system and the many anxieties I held as a first time parent. Since then, I’ve learned from hundreds of parents that they, too, needed more support than was available to them. Often times, they felt others were pushing an agenda that was not in their best interest. I became a doula to help change that, one family at a time. I’m here to hold space for you, learn with you, ease your fears, and empower you to feel confident through this important time in your life. If you are looking for a doula to help you birth and nurture your child on your own terms, please consider booking a free consultation with me. I’d love to learn more about you and see if we are a good fit.

Asking Lindsay to be our Doula and specifically assist with postpartum care is the best decision we could have made as parents. Our second born was much more challenging than our first and loved to scream all hours of the day. Not only is Lindsay educated, great at explaining things, and creative, she also has a very patient and calming presence that we desperately needed. SOme of the other Doulas I met were too "out there" and I appreciated Lindsay's "down to earth" responses that were kind and intelligent. She helped us feel confident and stay focused and calm when we thought we couldn't handle the screaming anymore. She gave us reassurance even as second time parents, we couldn't have done it without her!

I was inspired to become a midwife in the first delivery room I ever entered. My own! The experience lit a fire in me that I knew would have to burn long and low as my attention was focused on my new baby. While still nursing him I undertook training to become a doula. I knew I wanted to be a midwife, but with a young son of my own, I was not ready at that time for the huge educational commitment. I was a practicing doula for 4 years before I was ready to take the next step. I wanted the chance to make more of a difference. I knew that the hospital nurses could influence a birth powerfully, as they had with mine. Becoming a labor and delivery nurse was my chance to make other women’s birth experiences more positive. Before going to nursing school I had a second son- this time in the care of loving midwives Connie and Tai at the Hollywood Birth Center on Sunset Boulevard. After an immersive two year program, I became a registered nurse at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in their labor and delivery department, where I had the opportunity to learn among the best. I loved my job so much that after my next birth- twin boys, I chose to remain at Cedars-Sinai for another 10 years. During the time I was a nurse I was honored to meet and work with the legendary CNM Debbie Frank who had the first hybrid home/ hospital private midwifery practice in Los Angeles- mine was the second. She was the inspiration for my future practice model. In 2015, with the unwavering support of my loving husband and father of my five amazing boys, I decided it was time to take the next step to becoming a certified nurse-midwife. I began to assist midwives at home births and then embarked on the final leg of my journey to midwifery, the 3-year bridge to Masters degree program at Frontier Nursing University. As much as I enjoy supporting families to birth at home, I saw there was a need in our community for a private hospital based midwifery practice that upheld the hallmarks of midwifery. I decided to be the change I wanted to see and applied for hospital privileges. I am thrilled to be a midwife and so honored to be able to continue to serve women in the setting of their choice, whether it be their home, or one of the best hospitals in Los Angeles. I have worked as a midwife in my own private practice, Gracefull Birthing Center, and as a co-founder and midwife at Los Angeles Midwives. My education at Frontier Nursing University instilled a strong respect for and belief in evidence-based practice (EBP); I am also committed to honoring a woman’s intuition, including my own while treating each person (and family) as an individual as well as the traditional art of midwifery that is learned through working together and story-telling among midwives.. As much as I love to read, cook and bake for my family and friends, hike, and play with our giant golden doodle Royce, I mostly spend my personal time with my newest son Olivier born in the water at home in 2021 and my teenagers. Also, I love having playdates with other midwives and families with whom I have become close after attending their births.

Working with Ariana felt like having a steady, supportive friend who also really knew her stuff. From the very beginning, she created a space where I felt safe asking questions, expressing concerns, and making decisions that felt right for me. She never pushed an agenda or made me feel pressured instead, she listened deeply, shared thoughtful and evidence-based information, and supported my choices every step of the way. Her presence during labor was incredibly grounding. Whenever I felt anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure, Ariana had a way of calming the room and helping me refocus. She offered reassurance, comfort, and gentle guidance exactly when I needed it. I always felt respected, informed, and empowered with her by my side. I am beyond grateful to have had Ariana as part of my birth team. Her care, compassion, and calm energy made such a meaningful difference in my experience, and I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for truly supportive, judgment-free doula care.

Birth and babies are my passions. I started the journey to becoming a birth doula shortly after having my second baby, Colton. My first and second births were completely night and day. My first baby, Caleb, was an incredibly long and strenuous labor; a total of 72 hours. With my second, however, I was only in labor for a total of 25 hours, which still is very long, but not by comparison. I owe a lot of that to my amazing birth team I had for my second birth, which included a midwife and doula support, and the education I gained throughout my pregnancy on how to prepare my body for birth. I believe in a holistic approach to birth. I don't think birth should be treated as a medical emergency until proven that it needs to be. Birth is a natural, beautiful thing, and while modern medicine absolutely has its place, I don't think it automatically belongs in every birth space. That said, I support every way to give birth, because in the end you're the only one in control. If you want an epidural, membrane sweep, Pitocin, all the drugs, I will absolutely support your decision. Or if you want to deny all cervical checks, do intermittent monitoring, and have your baby in the tub, that's great by me too! My priority as your doula would be to give you access to all the information you need to make well informed choices and give you the support you need to make your birth experience exactly what you want

Hello everyone, my name is Momo Bass and I am a certified birth doula as well as a trained postpartum doula that serves the greater Los Angeles and Pasadena area. Aside from doing this rewarding work for a while, I am also a mama myself, to three amazing kiddos! When I'm not cheering on my kids at soccer practice, you'll likely find me tending to my ever-growing houseplant collection, or tending to myself at the gym. But my true passion lies in supporting families embarking on their incredible birthing journey. Motherhood is what threw me into the thralls of what it means to bring life into this world. It's this firsthand knowledge, coupled with my relentless curiosity about the miracle of birth and the transition into becoming a parent, that led me to become a birth and postpartum doula. Bringing my kiddos earth side became my superpower, and it’s become my mission to ignite that same fire in the families I work with. I believe that starts with finding judgment-free informational and emotional support, and I believe it starts when parents take back control of how their labor & postpartum experience goes by making informed decisions on what’s best for yourself and your growing family. “Everyone wants to hold the baby, but who will hold the mother/parents?” As a birth and postpartum doula, I will!

I had the pleasure of working alongside Monique as my co-doula, and I can confidently say she is an exceptional professional. Momo brings warmth, compassion, and unwavering dedication to every family she supports. Her calm demeanor and intuitive ability to anticipate the needs of both birthing parents and their partners make her a reliable and invaluable presence during such an important time. Working with Momo, I’ve seen firsthand how her knowledge, experience, and genuine care create a safe and empowering space for her clients. She has a natural gift for fostering connection and ensuring her clients feel heard, supported, and respected throughout their journey. Any family would be incredibly lucky to have Momo by their side. She’s not just a doula but a true advocate and companion for the families she serves. Warmly, Maia S
