Hi there! I’m Jalisa Burton, co-founder of Divine Birthing Services and a proud Full Spectrum Doula and Certified Effective Black Parenting Educator. Supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and beyond is more than what I do — it’s who I am. For me, this work is a divine calling, one that allows me to help parents feel safe, respected, and deeply supported during one of life’s most powerful journeys. My approach is rooted in compassion, education, and empowerment. I believe every parent deserves to feel seen, heard, and cared for in a way that honors their values and choices. Whether it’s offering emotional reassurance, sharing evidence-based guidance, or simply holding space, my goal is always to create an environment where families can embrace birth with confidence and peace of mind. Before stepping into birthwork, I proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard, where I learned the importance of service, resilience, and standing strong for others. Those same values now shape how I show up for families — with steady support, calm presence, and unwavering dedication. Beyond birthwork, I’m a wife and mom of three, which means I know firsthand the joys, challenges, and transformations that come with parenting. I love exploring new places, trying new cuisines, and making memories with my family. I’d be honored to walk this journey with you. Our offerings include: Doula Support: Our team of experienced Full Spectrum Doulas provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support before, during, and after childbirth to ensure a positive and empowering birthing experience. Lactation Education: As Certified Lactation Education Specialists, we offer guidance and support to help families establish successful breastfeeding relationships, troubleshoot common challenges, and promote breastfeeding as a fulfilling and nourishing experience for both parent and baby. Parenting Education: Through our Certified Effective Black Parenting Educator program, we provide culturally competent parenting education and support to empower parents with the knowledge and skills they need to navigate the joys and challenges of parenthood confidently. Birth Planning: We assist families in creating personalized birth plans that reflect their preferences, values, and desires for their birthing experience, ensuring that their wishes are communicated effectively to their birth team. Postpartum Support: Our postpartum doula services offer invaluable assistance and guidance to families during the early postpartum period, providing emotional support, practical assistance with newborn care, breastfeeding support, and household tasks to help ease the transition into parenthood. Community Advocacy: As passionate community advocates, we actively work to promote equitable access to maternity care, advocate for informed choice and autonomy in childbirth, and address systemic disparities in maternal and infant health outcomes.
