My goal is to empower women, educate them about their options, and help them feel supported every step of the way. My name is Josie Patton. I'm a wife and mom of 4 boys including a set of twins, all of whom I have or am currently breastfeeding. I obtained my CLS in 2021 after the birth of my second son. I had a lot of struggles with my first and although we made it to our goal for nursing it took a lot of work on my behalf to make it happen. I knew then that I wanted to be the person who helps other families in our community that have nursing/feeding struggles. By Design Lactation came to life when I took my step of faith that God had big plans for me to make my dream of helping others come true. I wholly believe that we are designed to provide life and then sustain it after birth. Most women who struggle to breastfeed are not incapable of doing it they just lack support and/or knowledge, I strive to break those barriers to help families reach their feeding goals! For quickest response time please text or call me directly 989-388-7541.
Josie was wonderful to work with, giving practical tips and ideas for the breastfeeding stuggles we were experiencing that I, even though I had previously breastfed my first four babies, didn't know how to deal with. She helped us make a plan to get were we needed to be. She gave us a list of recommended providers to see for my baby's tongue and lip tie (because no sleep-deprived parents struggling with breastfeeding should be trying to figure that out on their own!) I'm so thankful for her help when I needed it!

Hello, and thank you for visiting my page! My name is Ronae (pronounced like the more commonly spelled "Renee"), and I am a Certified Birth Doula and Certified Lactation Specialist located in Fort Wayne, IN. I have always been passionate about serving and encouraging other women. Through my own parenting journey over the years, I have developed an avid interest in all things birth and breastfeeding. I have been a certified Birth Doula since 2020 through ICEA and Global Birth Community and have been a Certified Lactation Specialist (CLS through LEC) since 2021. I have experience in supporting births in hospitals, in birth centers, and at home. I believe that women have a right to nonjudgmental encouragement and support throughout their birth story, whatever they choose and wherever it takes them. I feel it is especially important for birth workers to empower women to understand their options in pregnancy and birth so they are able to provide true informed consent, playing an active role in their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experiences.
We decided to have our fourth child late in life and hired Ronae as our doula, it was the best decision we made! Ronae was knowledgeable and a great resource planning our labor and delivery. Her guidance, reassurance, and attentive presence made the experience smoother and more empowering. We couldn’t have asked for a better partner through this pivotal moment in our lives.

Hi I am Maria, and I came to doula work after working in childcare for 8 years. After spending time with parents who had relatively no postpartum care or support, I soon started my training to bridge that gap. I believe that the postpartum period is one of the most crucial stages of pregnancy. Many parents experience feelings of loneliness, confusion, and exhaustion and it is Maria’s top priority to help parents feel their best during your fourth trimester. Maria believes that every family who wants a doula should have one. Promoting a judgement free zone, she happily works with families and individuals of any age, race, & gender. Instilling confidence and nurturing a new family is what makes Maria excited to go to work every day. Maria has been trained as an EMT, birth and postpartum doula, certified lactation counselor, and is working on her IBCLC certification which she plans to finish by winter 2025.
I have worked with Maria for almost a year now and it has been the best decision for my family. I am a first time mom and only got 6 weeks of maternity leave before going back to work full time. Maria provided overnight support and it helped tremendously. She took over care for my son so that I could get a full nights sleep. I woke up to a happy baby, clean house, and was able to start the day off right. I absolutely recommend Maria to everyone!

I officially began my birth work journey in 2018 and have gone on to work as a doula, lactation counselor, and birth assistant. I feel the idea of supporting women in their birth journey actually took root with my firstborn in 1994. I loved and cherished the guidance I received from other women and provide the care that meant so much to me. I have 4 grown children 2 of which were hospital births and 2 home births. I feel honored to be able to share my experience with women and families. I approach birth holistically. As well as physical support during labor, my role is also to act as an advocate for the birthing woman and her family. Contact me to find out more.

Hi friend! I am one of the co-founders of The Village Doulas, a group of birth work and child care experts. We aim to create a village around all parents to help them thrive. My background is in Pediatric Nursing and special education, ranging from wellness pediatric care to a specialized ventilator unit, I have seen a lot! I have known for a long time it is my calling and blessing to help others raise their babies. I believe all of my experiences led me to be doing that as a doula today! I can't wait to get to know you!
I started thinking about hiring a night nurse or nanny before I even got pregnant again, but never in a million years did I think I would actually meet someone I felt like I could truly trust with my baby (especially after suffering severe postpartum anxiety with my first) - that was until I met with Kinsey. I immediately felt a connection with her and after chatting for a bit, knew without a doubt I could count on her to care for my baby. Not only did she have the right background, but hearing her “why” behind starting this business helped seal the deal for me. Kinsey truly has a passion for not only caring for babies, but us mamas as well. After Kinsey left our interview, my husband and I decided to sign a 6 week contract with her. During those 6 weeks, she was unavailable for 2 of them due to traveling (this was disclosed ahead of time during our meeting). She let me know she had a couple other options for us to cover for her during that time, although she was the only pediatric RN. Kinsey knew how much this put me at ease, and she even asked if I wanted to meet one of her colleagues at her doctors office to cover for her, which I thought was very thoughtful! However, I decided I would still like to meet her business partner, Kati and see how I felt. Fast forward to my meeting with Kati, and once again, the moment I met her I felt an instant trust and connection. It was within minutes that I knew I could count on her to cover for Kinsey while she was out of town. 6 weeks later, our contract was up and we decided to renew with Kinsey for an additional month. Of course, shortly after signing, our little guy decided he wanted to pretty much sleep through the night (which I also attribute to Kinsey helping with)! While this was amazing for us, it was also a little frustrating as we juuuust extended our contract. However, Kinsey made sure we were still benefitting from her services at this time. She was not only flexible when it came to days/times, but she helped me with so many projects on my to-do list that I just could never get to caring for a toddler and a newborn - and she put genuine effort and thought into the help too! She helped me with an amazing toy rotation/organization system for my toddler, meal prepped quick and easy meals and snacks for her that I could freeze, and even helped me update all of our photo frames in the living room. Whether she was doing overnight sleep care or something else for us, she truly wanted to make sure she was helping to make this postpartum period as stress free as possible for us as a family. I truly believe that because of Kinsey (and Kati), I escaped postpartum anxiety fueled by lack of sleep this time around. I was able to truly enjoy the newborn stage as a well rested mom without feeling utterly exhausted for months on end like I did the first time around. I was able to wake up feeling refreshed and ready to actually enjoy the day with both my newborn and my 2 year old. My husband and I weren’t snapping on each other from being so tired and waking up all night with a fussy baby. While I know it is a bit of a luxury to be able to hire this kind of help, it is worth every.single.penny. Whether you already have the funds to do it or you have to make certain sacrifices to do it, I’d recommend Kinsey and her services a MILLION times over. You just can’t put a price on rest and mental health (especially during those first few months) and having someone you can truly trust to care for your baby is priceless. 10/10 would recommend Kinsey and The Village Doulas.

Hi there! I'm Jill, and I'm an IBCLC and a holistic sleep specialist. I work with families to get to the root of their feeding and/or sleep challenges. I accept several insurance plans and offer sliding scale pricing for out of network clients. Unique from other IBCLCs and sleep consultants, I work with families to help understand & address the root cause of their baby's night wakings without ANY form of separation-based sleep training. My approach centers attachment and is informed by neuroscience & infant brain development, as well as biological feeding norms. Because I specialized training in lactation care, oral function, and nutrition, I have helped hundreds of families identify missed (or dismissed) issues affecting sleep and improve their child's health & well-being for life.

T. 7 reviews 5 months ago Nyasia is incredibly down to earth and as caring as she is kind. She made my husband and I feel safe in the months leading up to labor and in the throws of birth. I'm incredibly grateful to have met her and plan to seek her out for my future pregnancies. She is a wealth of knowledge and you'd think unlimited resources (she has the best goodies). Her extensive background shows up in ways you wouldn't think you need until she comforts you with something from her tool kit. Outside of making me feel safe in birth she also made me feel empowered. She reassured my husband and I that come what may in the birthing room I can conquer it (and did). She whispered in my ear the probable course my labor would take and of course was right but because of her I was prepared. I watched her stand at my feet and whisper prayers for an emergency situation down the hall, care for my husband, and comfort me, all in a 7 minute span. She's extremely diligent with your privacy and will never impugn your or anyone's dignity. Out of the thousands of stories she could tell she only tells ones about herself and her personal experiences. Now after she'd supported us with, through and in labor as my doula I had the added blessing of her being my lactation consultant. She walked me through the first weeks of nursing, comforted me when my baby went on a nursing strike pulled all kinds of breastfeeding tools out of her infamous tote bag, suggested positions for both me and baby and is still educating and walking with us at almost 10 months post partum. Having her as our doula further encouraged me to start my path in being a birth worker and wouldn't you know, it was Nyasia that provided me the links to free doula training. We love her immensely.
