About me

Hi, welcome to Love Bean Doula! I'm originally from the Chicagoland area, and moved to Iowa in 1996. My husband and I have 3 sons, 1 daughter, 1 grandson and a zoo of pets. I have always been fascinated by all aspects of birth. The beauty of what a woman’s body can do naturally, the pain a woman can endure, the strength that is shown throughout each stage of pregnancy, labor/delivery, and the awesome miracle that birth is. I recognize that each birth, each baby, and each birthing person are proudly unique in their own way, and every pregnancy is deserving of compassionate support. My goal is to help you feel informed, empowered, and connected to your birth experience. I’m committed to holding space for you and your feelings, to helping you overcome fears you may have surrounding pregnancy and childbirth, and replacing them with confidence, calm, and readiness.

Service introduction

As your doula, I will work together with your birth team to make you feel empowered, comfortable, and in control. Research shows that mothers who are professionally supported through birth, and the first weeks postpartum, are more likely to have less procedures and medications during birth, a better start to breastfeeding, have more confidence in parenting, less postpartum mood/anxiety disorders, bond quicker with their baby, and are overall happier with their birth experience.
