About me

I'm Brazilian, wife and a mom of two girls. My cultural Background and my daughter's birth experiences are deeply connected to my decision to become a doula. Growing up, I used to listen to my mother's birth stories, which helped me see childbirth as a grand and beautiful event. For me, the idea of giving birth was always sacred - but it was through the births of my two daughters that I truly understood what it means to give birth. After my second birth, I knew I wanted to become the kind of support person who had been essential to me during my own experience. In 2021 I began walking the path to become a Doula.

As a Birth Doula, I’m here to support you before, during and after your birth journey. Never underestimate the intensity, the challenges and the power of giving birth, and knowing that It is a moment that will stay with you for a lifetime. I’ll be there with my science-based knowledge, calm presence and pain relief techniques to help you throughout this sacred and vulnerable moment. I’ll bring the knowledge I’ve gained in massage, aromatherapy, rebozo, and more. But most of all, I’ll be there with attentive eyes and listening ears to understand your needs — offering my hands, heart and mind wide open to welcome your own rebirth.

How can you help me as a doula?

I believe that strong emotional support is the most important tool for a positive birth experience, and this belief is at the core of how I work. In a moment as vulnerable as childbirth, you need to feel safe and cared for, to let your instincts guide you. It is science, how our PNS (Parasympathetic Nervous System) works, and to give birth you need to be led by PNS. That’s why the environment is so important. The hormones that make the childbirth process possible are delicate… our society has changed a lot since the paleolithic era, the way we see childbirth has changed too, but its physiology doesn’t. And for a good birth development, progress and out-coming, we still need to be led by our primate instincts. For instincts we can understand our hormones guidance, which means no rational control to avoid cortisone, and stay connected to allow the oxytocin brightening. We can say instincts, we can say hormones, but what matters is that in today’s day we know that childbirth is a moment to stay surrounded by peace, love, safety and to be connected with this moment. The more you can do this, the higher the probability to have a successful outcome, and a good birth experience. That said, my first goal is to understand you to provide you with these first primordial ingredients. Of course I’ll be there to manage your pain sensation, which is a big challenge, but without confidence and connection, I believe techniques are weak and can be easily broken.

How can you effectively help me with pain control?

Talking about hands-on aspects of support, my clients often say that I have wonderful massage skills. I use to combine massage, aromatherapy and rebozo to help during contractions.

Do you offer a smaller package, just for the birth or with fewer visits?

No. I consider the visits one of the most important parts of my work. During our meetings, we’ll get to know each other. We’ll talk about you, your preferences, what you already know, take off any questions, so I can understand you as a singular person and what you want for your birth. We need to build a relationship based on trust and intimacy. Childbirth is a deeply intimate moment that you probably wouldn’t share with just anyone. And since I’m the person who will be with you, in your home, witnessing your most powerful and raw version, we need this time to connect and get on the same page before the big day. I also have a low rate of clients per month, so I can minimize any childbirth conflict day, and guarantee a good resting between each other in a way I can stay brand new for you when you most need my assistance.

How long do the meetings last?

They usually last about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. But it can take more, depending on your questions and availability.

Why is a low rate of clients important?

The most critical moment for a Doula is the 5 last weeks that the baby will choose only one day as its birthday. We never know when it is going to happen, but I may be prepared for that. Whether I have a high number of clients the chance of these births colliding itself is high. The other point is about the nature of the doula’s work. Which means more than a month of 24h on-call availability for each birth, and a prolonged non-stop time of physical and mental work. A high rate of clients will get me exhausted and incapable of offering you my calm soul, my patience, and my physical availability.

When is it time to call you during labor?

When you feel, for any reason, it’s becoming hard to manage this moment just you and your partner.
