Hi, I’m Tamika Mapp (she/her)—founder of Kindroot Doula Collective. I support families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and loss with care that is consistent, compassionate, and deeply rooted in respect. As a birth and bereavement doula, Army veteran, and longtime community advocate, I understand how important it is to feel seen, heard, and supported—especially during life’s most vulnerable moments. Kindroot was created to be more than a service. It’s a safe, sacred space where your voice matters, your experiences are honored, and your choices are supported—without judgment. Kindroot Doula Collective provides compassionate birth, postpartum, and bereavement support for families in NYC, NJ, and OK. Whether you're preparing to welcome your baby, adjusting to life postpartum, or navigating loss, I offer trauma-informed care, emotional support, and a calming, steady presence—every step of the way. My support doesn’t end after birth. I walk alongside you through the transition into parenthood with postpartum care available up to your baby’s first birthday, so you’re never left to figure it out alone. You deserve to feel seen, heard, and fully supported—through every stage of your journey.

Postpartum Doula Support (In-Home)

Daytime support is designed to help you feel confident, rested, and supported as you adjust to life with your baby. During daytime visits, I support you with: Newborn care guidance (diapering, soothing, bathing) Feeding support (breastfeeding, bottle feeding, pumping) Emotional support and check-ins Helping you process your birth experience Creating routines that work for your family Light meal prep or nourishment support Light tidying related to baby care Holding the baby so you can rest, shower, or reset This is hands-on, nurturing support focused on both baby AND you Minimum 4 hours

Overnight Postpartum Support

Overnight care is designed to help you get the rest your body needs to heal and recover. During overnight shifts, I provide: Full newborn care while you sleep Feeding support (bringing baby to you or handling bottles) Diaper changes and soothing throughout the night Monitoring baby’s needs so you can rest peacefully Gentle guidance if you’re navigating night routines The goal is simple: You wake up feeling more rested, supported, and less overwhelmed Minimum of 8 hours

When should I hire a doula

We recommend hiring your doula during your second trimester to ensure availability and allow time to build a strong, supportive relationship before birth. That said, you’re always welcome to reach out at any stage of your journey. Whether you’re later in pregnancy, navigating postpartum, or seeking support after a loss—care is available when you need it most. At Kindroot Doula Collective, support doesn’t have a deadline. What if I’m not sure what kind of support I need?

That’s completely okay—you don’t have to have it all figured out. Many families come in unsure of what they need, and that’s exactly what I’m here for. During our consultation, we’ll talk through your experience, your concerns, and what support would feel most helpful for you. Whether you’re preparing for birth, navigating postpartum, or just feeling overwhelmed, we’ll create a plan that meets you where you are. At Kindroot Doula Collective, support is personalized—because every family’s journey is different

Do you offer payment plans or sliding scale options?

Yes—payment plans are available for all services. I believe support should be accessible, not overwhelming. We can break your investment into manageable payments that fit your timeline, whether you’re booking birth, postpartum, or first-year support. A limited number of sliding scale spots may be available based on need. If cost is a concern, I encourage you to still reach out—we can talk through your options together. You deserve support, and we’ll do our best to make it work

What does a doula actually do?

A doula provides emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I’m there to help you feel prepared, supported, and confident—whether that’s through birth planning, comfort techniques during labor, or guidance once your baby arrives. My role is not medical, but I work alongside your care team to make sure you feel heard, informed, and supported every step of the way.

Will you replace my partner or support person?

Not at all—your partner is an important part of your experience. I support both of you. I help guide your partner so they feel confident in how to support you, while also making sure you have continuous care throughout your labor and postpartum journey.

Do you support hospital, home, and birth center births?

Yes I support births in hospitals, birth centers, and home settings. My goal is to meet you where you are and support the kind of birth experience you’re hoping for.

What does first-year support include?

First-year support means you’re not left alone after those early postpartum weeks. You’ll have ongoing check-ins, guidance, and support as your baby grows—whether you have questions about feeding, sleep, routines, or just need reassurance. Because support doesn’t stop at 6 weeks… and neither do your needs.

Is postpartum care included in birth packages?

Birth packages include initial postpartum visits and ongoing guidance. Hands-on, in-home postpartum care (daytime or overnight support) is available separately for families who want additional help during the early weeks and beyond.

Do you accept insurance?

Some insurance plans (including SoonerCare or select private plans) may offer coverage or reimbursement for doula services. I can help guide you through what to ask your provider and provide documentation if needed.

What if things don’t go as planned during my birth?

Birth can be unpredictable, and that’s okay. My role is to support you no matter how your birth unfolds—whether things go according to plan or shift along the way. You’ll have someone there to help you process decisions, feel grounded, and supported through it all.
