Sally Wiggins

Working with Sally helped me to have the birth I wanted! I knew I wanted to try for an unmedicated birth, but was open to an epidural if needed, and Sally was supportive of both plans. She had great advice throughout my pregnancy and was a true hero on delivery day! She accompanied my husband and I to the hospital and was amazing at communicating with our nurses and doctors which took a lot of pressure off of me and my husband so that we could just be present in the moment. She used a variety of strategies to keep me as comfortable as possible during labor --the counterpressure and massage was a game changer during contractions! After baby was born she followed up with us several times to make sure breastfeeding and everything was going well. We would definitely recommend getting a doula, specifically Sally, to anyone who is on the fence about hiring someone to support their birth!

Sally was such a great help during the final months of my pregnancy and during labor! She helped me make a plan where my preferences would be heard. With a personal history of loss and feeling like I didn’t get good information on my options, INFORMED decisions and consent were so important to me. During my labor, many things occurred requiring us to deviate from the plan. I was so grateful to have Sally there to discuss my next steps and weigh the pros and cons of each intervention. Without her guidance I would have felt bullied by the hospital staff to quickly agree to their recommendations. I also appreciated the one on one breastfeeding training before birth, immediately after birth, and follow up at about 3 weeks. My little guy has done so well with breastfeeding and I have been able to feed with minimal pain! Highly recommend adding her to your team, it takes a village from the start :)

Sally was such a welcome presence during my birth prep. She has a bright, calming personality that really puts you at ease. And she’s just so kind. But on top of that, she’s incredibly knowledgeable in all things birth, doula, and body ready method. Sally helped me work through some body ready method exercises for birth and I’m so happy I had that prep and practice. Many of the moves she taught me, I ended up using during labor so I wasn’t seeing it for the first time in the hospital and that was a relief. Not to mention, the work kept me strong and ready for labor, which was necessary! Highly recommend!

Sally was an incredible support during the birth of my son, and my husband and I cannot recommend her enough as a birth doula. As first time parents, we didn’t know exactly what we were looking for in a doula, but we knew we wanted an extra team member to help us through the birth processes. From our very first meeting, Sally put us at ease with her calm and reassuring spirit. We started working with Sally at the end of my pregnancy, and it was very easy to schedule our meetings with her during this busy time in our lives. She took the time to get to know us and listened carefully to our preferences. Her written resources covered a lot of ground without being overwhelming. During the birth, Sally was an invaluable part of our team. She provided steady encouragement to me and my husband, helped me focus on my body to help labor progress, and offered practical advice, like reminding us to eat and drink! My husband was able to be the one holding my hand and breathing with me while Sally worked to keep us as comfortable as possible, including speaking up on our behalf to our medical team with our birth plan requests. Her calming demeanor and constant reassurance made me feel supported and confident, from our messages about my symptoms as labor began to helping our son breastfeed in his first hour of life. It was so special to receive our written birth story from her, and reading it is a testament to how focused and present she was with us that day. After the birth, Sally continued to show her care and dedication, checking in on us and ensuring we were adjusting well as a family. Her experience and compassion truly made the entire experience so much smoother. We are so grateful for her guidance and presence during such an important time in our lives and I will be looking forward to working together again in future pregnancies!

Nine months after giving birth, I still can’t really come up with the words to describe what a gift Sally’s presence was as I labored and birthed our sweet boy. She was a wonderful, steadying force for my husband and me during a long labor and helped empower me to make decisions regarding my care. In addition to her presence during and after labor, Sally provided invaluable education and gentle guidance throughout pregnancy and helped me think through many things that may not have occurred to me as a first time mom. Should I ever be pregnant again, I will be contacting Sally right away in hopes of getting on her schedule. If you are considering a doula, I encourage you to put Sally at the top of your list! My husband and me are both SO thankful for her and her work!

I cannot recommend working with Sally enough!! When I found out I was pregnant I knew I wanted to have a doula to help accomplish my goal of an unmedicated birth. She was so easy to work with in our meetings leading up to my due date. Sally was an excellent advocate during labor and delivery to ensure I (and baby!) had the best possible experience. Specifically, she advocated for the experience I wanted. Sally always provided helpful information so we could make informed decisions and was always respectful of our unique desires. I am confident I would not have had as easy of labor and delivery if Sally hadn't been there. Sally was such a gentle and caring doula who supported my husband and me during my labor and delivery. We were in the hospital on two separate occasions for a total of four and a half days before our daughter arrived, and Sally was with us every step of the way. She guided us in asking the right questions so that we could make informed decisions about next steps when labor wasn't progressing exactly how my midwife and OB team would have liked. Having a VBAC was incredibly important to me, and although there were a few hiccups along the way, I ended up getting an incredibly healing and empowering unmedicated VBAC birth. I have no doubt that we would have had a different outcome without Sally there supporting us! She provided strategies to help labor progress and emotional support when I needed it. I would hire her again in a heartbeat!
