About me

Hello everyone! I'm Lou, owner of Mama Bear Doula Care and Photography in New Bern, NC. I provide birth doula support, prenatal education, and birth and lifestyle photography services to families from all backgrounds, philosophies and walks of life. I worked as a physical therapist for several years before transitioning into full time birth work in 2019 and have focused my continuing doula education on physiological birth support techniques and VBAC support. I network closely with other perinatal professionals and love to help parents and families get connected to information and other resources in our communities. Some of my favorite things to do in my spare time are nature hikes with my family, singing at church, patronizing our community theaters, and sitting around a campfire with friends.

Service introduction

Birth doula services include a free consultation, 2-3 prenatal preparation classes or visits, hands-on support in labor and up to 2 hours postpartum, 1-2 postpartum follow-up visits, and photojournaling of your labor and birth. Lifestyle photography sessions can feature maternity photos, newborn or postpartum lifestyle, breastfeeding sessions, and "Love your Motherhood" positive postpartum body image sessions.
