Bria Comer

2 years of experience

“In birth, we find the courage we never knew we had and the strength that was there all along.” – Marcie Macari Hi, my name is Bria Comer. I am a birth doula, as well as a dance teacher, licensed physical therapist assistant, and a mama to my son, daughter, and dog! I am so excited that you are considering the idea of a doula. I believe that everyone deserves the support and knowledge of a birth doula to help make childbirth the beautiful journey it should be. My background in dance and physical therapy, in combination with my doula training, gives me valuable insight into the physiology of the perinatal time frame to help you embrace the power within your body. I have seen firsthand how positioning, massage techniques, intentional movement, and breath work help birthing individuals. My goal as your doula is first and foremost to support you with your needs and desires, whatever decisions you make. I am also interested in helping you learn about normal physiology and movement practices during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum to help empower and educate you. This will help you be in tune with your body and its needs as well, so you can continue to find strength and balance beyond our time together! I also use my knowledge and experience from over 6 years of working in pediatric physical therapy to help educate and guide you on normal infant development, if you are interested. LGBT+ friendly 💜

We hired Bria for a 2 hour labor prep class in our home. It was the best thing we did! She showed up prepared with notes on specific things to work on with me just from a picture! She was hands on in showing labor positions and stretches to help me in the exact way I wanted. She made sure we knew how to do them all before moving on. She was very thorough in going through as many options and preparations as needed. My husband and I feel so much more prepared for labor and delivery after meeting with Bria. I had no idea how to set up a birth plan or what some of my options even were, and she talked through each step with me. I would 100% recommend Bria to anyone looking for labor prep or Doula services!!

Hi, I’m Gabrielle Taylor. I’ve been supporting mothers and newborns since February 2022, but my passion for women’s health began in my teenage years. I’m a proud mother of two—my children were born in 2017 and 2021. **I have teamed up with Danica Day to bring quality care and support to Frederick and the surrounding areas. You can read more about Danica here: https://www.dawnandduskdoulaco.com/** My first birth, a cesarean, was emotionally traumatic and left me feeling unsupported and unheard. In contrast, the birth of my second child was an empowering VBAC, made possible by the compassionate presence of an incredible doula. That experience was truly life-changing—it showed me the profound difference that informed, empathetic support can make. Now, my mission is to offer that same kind of transformative support to other families. Whether you're navigating your first birth or welcoming another child into your home, I’m here to help you feel confident, cared for, and connected. In today’s fast-paced world, motherhood can feel isolating—but I'm here to bridge that gap so you feel supported. I’m also currently pursuing my nursing degree to deepen my knowledge and enhance the care I provide as a doula. I’m honored to walk alongside you during this pivotal journey.

I can’t say enough about Gabby. She was with us for 8 weeks as a post partum doula/newborn care specialist at night. She was so great with my baby and took extra care following his lip and tongue tie procedure to make sure he was comforted and did his post op oral exercises. As a new mom, I was nervous about having someone in my home, but Gabby was so warm and kind and answered all of my questions and provided helpful insights from her experience.

I am a Certified Birth Photographer and Certified Full Spectrum Doula serving Denver, Colorado and surrounding areas. My love for birth started at a young age, but it wasn't until I birthed my daughter that I found my passion. I believe that everyone's pregnancy journey and birth story matters. You will carry your experience with you for the rest of your life. As your doula and birth photographer, it is my responsibility to support you, advocate for you when necessary, and document the beautiful moments of your birth. I believe that birth is natural and all about trusting yourself, your body, and the process. I also believe that it is your right to determine what the best birth is for your family. I offer support for all types of families. I am also bilingual (Spanish/English). It does not matter if you are having a home birth or a scheduled cesarean. My main goal is to ensure that you have all of the information you need in order to make an informed decision. No matter what decision you make, I will always have your back. As a parent who has just recently gone through my own pregnancy and birth journey, I understand how lonely it can feel. Know that you are never alone. I will be there to listen whenever you need to talk to someone about how you feel or you just need to release your emotions. I will believe in you even when you don't. You are strong, capable, and powerful. And I'll be there to remind you every time you doubt yourself.

Hannah Wright

My name is Hannah and I’m a birth and postpartum doula. I have a Bachelors in Elementary Education and taught kindergarten until my son was born in 2020. Although my role adjusted when becoming a mother, a fire was ignited through my birth experience, and I started researching how I could make a difference. After my daughter’s redeeming home birth in 2022, I knew that becoming a doula was a tangible way I could impact mothers and the next generation for the better. By providing emotional support, evidence-based information and physical support, I strive to make the family’s life changing, transitional time a smoother one. I am trained through DONA as a birth doula and Lifespan doulas for postpartum work. Besides classroom experience, I also have nannied for several families over the past few years. It is my goal as your birth or postpartum doula to make you feel seen and heard. In my free time, you can find me spending time with my kiddos outside, serving at our local church, grabbing coffee with friends, going on family walks or experimenting in the kitchen.

Hannah was able to provide me with virtual and in person support for the birth of my baby. She quickly responded to any question I had and gave me clear, practical information tailored for me. She shares your emotional journey in a way that makes you feel empowered and validated for any feeling or question you may have. She is sweet, knowledgable, and comprehensive about what she knows. She is prepared with lots of different ideas for pain-reducing techniques during the natural birth of my baby as well as providing alternatives when needed. She displays an assertive, yet respectful bedside manner and advocates to the doctors and nurses with for your best interest. She checked in frequently and even reached out many times after my baby was born to check not only on the baby, but also me as well to see how I was doing physically and emotionally. She took lots of time to help me find out an answer to a pain I was having after birth and resolve it. She is easy to talk to and understanding of what you are going through. I would highly recommend hiring Hannah Wright to be your doula.

Dale was my instructor through the MaternityWise Doula Program back in 2018. The moment I spoke with her, I knew I’d chosen the right path. She kept in constant contact and made sure I was fully prepared for class. Her teaching went beyond the binder—she shared the real ins and outs of the doula business, the birth experience, and answered every question. She opened up about her own life so we could see how being a doula fits into everyday life. One experience changed my life: Dale walked me through attending my first birth and gave me the confidence to take charge. She was also present for the birth of my last baby in 2019. When she arrived, she immediately made me feel calm and empowered. The doctors and nurses respected her so much—they even waited for her to arrive before breaking my water and asked for her approval. It was such a powerful moment. It was an honor that she cut my baby’s cord. Dale is the best and will always have my family’s love and respect

Nikita Wise

Nikita Wise

10 years of experience

Nikita Wise is a Traditional Midwife serving families throughout the Baltimore–Washington region with a deep commitment to culturally centered, respectful, and holistic maternity care. Widely recognized for her dedication to Black and minority families, Nikita has spent over a decade supporting women through fertility, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with compassion, clinical rigor, and ancestral reverence. Born and raised in Baltimore City, Nikita later relocated to suburban Maryland at age 19, where her personal journey into motherhood profoundly shaped her professional calling. Becoming a mother at 16 with the steadfast support of her married parents, she developed an early passion for maternal health and a determination to serve women during some of life’s most transformative moments. This experience inspired her pursuit of a career in labor and delivery and ultimately midwifery. In 2013, Nikita began her formal clinical training by earning her Nursing Assistant Certification at the Gandhi School in Pikesville, Maryland. She then advanced her medical training at Brown’s Career Institute, where she became both a Patient Care Technician and Certified Phlebotomist. That same year, she entered the field of obstetrics as an OB Surgical Technician at Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C., completing the hospital’s in-house Surgical Technology Program and receiving extensive on-the-job training in high-acuity maternity care. Over the next five years, Nikita worked across multiple labor and delivery units throughout the DMV, including Sibley Memorial Hospital, The George Washington University Hospital, St. Agnes Hospital, Providence Hospital, StoneSprings Hospital Center, Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, and MedStar Montgomery Medical Center. During this time, she gained firsthand experience in operative births, maternal emergencies, and interdisciplinary obstetric care—knowledge that continues to inform her midwifery practice today. In 2019, recognizing the limitations of hospital-based care for families seeking autonomy and holistic support, Nikita transitioned from surgical technology to birthwork as a doula and student midwife. That same year, she founded DMV Birth Doulas, LLC, a full-spectrum doula practice dedicated to empowering families through personalized, evidence-informed, and culturally affirming support. In 2020, Nikita launched The Black Doula Training, LLC, an accessible, low-cost educational program designed to increase diversity in the birthwork profession and prepare aspiring doulas for professional practice. Many graduates of the program have gone on to serve families in community settings and within DMV Birth Doulas’ professional network. In December 2024, Nikita successfully completed the Portfolio Evaluation Process with the National Registry of Registered Midwives (NARM)—a nationally recognized credentialing pathway for traditional midwives. Throughout her training, she worked under the mentorship and clinical supervision of respected midwives across the Mid-Atlantic region, including: Bayla Berkowitz, CNM (Pikesville, MD) Monika Karaosman, CPM (Berlin, MD) Elder Midwife Maureen McIver, CPM (Pennsylvania) Ryann Bernard, CPM, JD (Alexandria, VA) These mentors evaluated her clinical skills, birth outcomes, and professional competencies, affirming her readiness to practice midwifery in community and out-of-hospital settings. Today, Nikita leads The House of Gloria Fertility & Birth, a sacred, boutique midwifery and fertility practice in Ellicott City, Maryland. Her work blends traditional midwifery principles with modern clinical standards, offering families holistic fertility care, homebirth midwifery, and comprehensive postpartum support. She is particularly known for her dedication to informed consent, physiologic birth, and culturally grounded care that honors Black maternal health and ancestral birth traditions. Nikita remains deeply invested in education, mentorship, and advocacy for maternal health equity. Through her clinical practice, training programs, and community outreach, she continues to expand access to respectful, culturally aligned birth care for families across Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

Are you feeling excited to meet your little one, but anxious about labor and unsure what to expect? Do you find yourself spending hours getting lost down internet rabbit holes researching pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum, but still lack confidence as your due date approaches? Trust me, I’ve been there! My journey to becoming a birth doula was born from my own experience with childbirth. In 2022, while living abroad, I gave birth to my son far from family and without much of a support system. I found myself scared and overwhelmed by the intensity of labor, longing for someone to guide and reassure me. That experience opened my eyes to the vital role emotional and physical support plays in childbirth, and it’s why I’m here—to offer the same kind of guidance and reassurance I longed for during my labor so you can enter those fragile early postpartum days feeling calm, empowered, and supported. I share a life filled with joy in Northern Virginia with my husband and our two children, who are the center of my heart and universe. Family is everything to me, and it’s because of them that I’m so passionate about helping others navigate the journey of birth. My life has taken me to many places, including three years spent living in Germany and eight months deployed to Afghanistan. These experiences taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of staying calm and grounded, especially in times of uncertainty – and I bring these lessons into my work as a doula. As your doula, my goal is to help you feel confident, empowered, and supported every step of the way. Whether you’re preparing for a hospital birth, home birth, or birth center, I will provide personalized, nurturing support that aligns with your goals. I’m here to help you navigate the unknowns and trust in your body’s ability to bring your baby into the world with strength and love. Motherhood is an indescribable gift, and I look forward to working together to nurture a birth experience that honors you, your choices, and your incredible journey.
