I have also been a newborn nanny to multiple families. I fell in love the women’s health/OBGYN/labor and delivery when I started as a medical assistant 4 years ago and was a medical assistant for 2 years at a women’s clinic and fell in love with the women’s clinic and got to shadow over 10 births by the midwives and OB’s at the clinic. I am currently applying for nursing school to become a labor and delivery nurse but wanted to be active in this field of work right now, so this is where I decided to become a birth doula. While my kiddo and I are happy and healthy today, our early years were marked by unexpected hospital stays, long periods of solo parenting, and eventually the work of building a successful co-parenting relationship. These experiences shaped me deeply and ignited my passion for supporting families navigating recovery, mental health challenges, past trauma, limited support systems, and complex family dynamics. When I gave birth in 2013, I had no idea postpartum doula support even existed. I believed new parents were simply supposed to figure it out on their own, and if they struggled, it meant they were failing. I now know how UNTRUE and harmful that belief can be. My mission is to ensure families know that support is available, and that they were never meant to do this alone. Before becoming a postpartum doula, I spent more than 20 years working as a nanny and childcare provider and earned an associate degree in pre-education. Four years ago, a friend introduced me to postpartum doula work, a role I had never heard of, but instantly knew was meant for me. Within weeks, I began my training, and I’ve never looked back. I wake up every day feeling grateful to do work that is meaningful, supportive, and deeply aligned with who I am. I love getting dirty in my native backyard habitat, knitting, cross-stitching, singing, attending live concerts, and discovering new coves at the coast.​ I was inspired to become a birth professional after my own powerful birth experiences. The birth of my first child was incredibly intense, and I discovered an inner strength that I did not know I had. I learned from this birth that our bodies are incredible and unpredictable and that giving birth was simultaneously beautiful and raw.

I'm a former licensed teacher that followed my passion to change my 17 year side job of childbirth education and birth doula work into a full time career. It started with earning my credentials as a childbirth educator from the Seattle Midwifery School and teaching in Portland area hospitals but morphed into doing birth doula work as people I met invited me to be part of their births. I like to say I fell into birth doula work unintentionally, but it ignited a passion to do it all that I could (while raising young children, teaching kindergarten part time, and teaching childbirth prep.
