This is a quote that has stuck with me as I explore my career path. Becoming a doula is something I did not follow through with until the murder of George Floyd. Seeing the striking images of pregnant Black mothers protesting around the country ignited the fire in me to finally complete my training to become a certified perinatal educator - meaning I can provide childbirth education, prenatal support, labor and delivery support, lactation support, and newborn care support. But my calling to birth work started on the day I was born with my mother being hospitalized for 2 months postpartum from an avoidable mistake during an emergency c-section. I value empathy, collaboration, and being open minded. As a doula, I am intentional about serving my clients in a way that supports self-empowerment, so they feel they have all the information they feel they need to make the best decision for them and their baby/babies. I do not shy away from vulnerability, and I believe this allows me to have relationships with my clients built on trust.

BS: Dietetics with a minor in psychology, focused on the psychology of eating MS: Exercise Science and Sports Nutrition Specialty: Perinatal Nutrition When you don't find me in my office, I'm coaching high school varsity softball, on the farm with my husband as we're raising generation #5 or in some kind of fitness class!
