About me

Welcome! I'm so glad you're here. My name is Bonney Burton, and I'm a certified Birth Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Breastfeeding Consultant trained through DONA International. Before becoming a doula, I spent years as an elementary school teacher, where I discovered my passion for helping others learn with confidence. That experience continues to shape the way I support families today鈥攎eeting you with patience, compassion, and practical education every step of the way. I believe every family deserves to feel informed, heard, and empowered throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum journey. My role isn't to tell you what your birth should look like, but to provide evidence-based education, steady encouragement, and unwavering support so you can make the decisions that feel right for you. Supporting women during one of the most transformative moments of their lives isn't just what I do鈥攊t's a calling that I'm honored to answer. My greatest hope is that you leave your birth experience feeling confident, respected, and proud of your journey. I'm currently based in the National Capital Region and am available to travel as needed. As the proud spouse of an active-duty service member and a mom to three amazing children, I understand the beauty, unpredictability, and joy that come with family life. You'll usually find me cheering from the sidelines at one of my kids' sporting events, curled up with a good book, enjoying the peace of the beach, or searching for my next favorite place to eat. Thank you for considering me to be part of such a meaningful chapter in your life. It is truly an honor to walk alongside growing families, and I look forward to supporting, encouraging, and celebrating you throughout your birthing journey.

Service introduction

Bringing a baby into the world is one of life's most meaningful journeys, and you shouldn't have to navigate it alone. Whether this is your first baby or you're growing your family, my goal is to provide the education, encouragement, and support you need to feel confident at every step of your birth journey. As your Birth Doula, Childbirth Educator, Breastfeeding Consultant, and Postpartum Doula, I'm here to meet you where you are. Together, we'll prepare for your birth by discussing your goals, answering your questions, exploring your options, and building the confidence to make informed decisions that align with your values. During labor, I'll be a calm, steady presence鈥攐ffering continuous emotional support, physical comfort measures, encouragement, and evidence-based information so you never feel like you're facing the experience alone. My support doesn't end once your baby arrives. The postpartum period brings its own joys and challenges, and I'm here to help you navigate those early days with compassion and reassurance. Whether you need breastfeeding support, newborn education, practical guidance, or simply someone to remind you that you're doing a wonderful job, I'll be by your side as you adjust to life with your newest family member. As a mother of three, I've experienced firsthand that no two pregnancies, births, or babies are ever the same. Every family's story is unique, and I believe your care should be, too. That's why every service I provide is personalized to your needs, your goals, and your vision for birth and postpartum. To make support as accessible as possible, I offer both in-person and virtual consultations. I am based in the National Capital Region and am happy to travel when my schedule allows. Travel outside my service area will include additional travel expenses, which will always be discussed with you in advance. Above all, I want you to feel informed, supported, respected, and confident. My hope is that when you look back on your birth story, you remember not only the day your baby was born, but also how empowered you felt throughout the journey. It would be an honor to walk alongside you and your family during this incredible season of life. I can't promise your birth will go exactly as planned, but I can promise you will never have to walk through it feeling alone!

If this platforme allowed me to give Bonney 100 stars, I鈥檇 do it instantly 馃 Her professionalism and personalism are incredible, she instantly calms a room when she enters it and is so incredibly thoughtful. We met multiple times before the birth and each visiting felt more and more like I had someone who would advocate for everything I wanted. As a type A person it鈥檚 hard to trust others with important things but there was no hesitation in trusting Bonney. As an Active Duty member, I loved that she understood the military, as she is a military spouse, and I loved that she has access to the military base Fort Belvior! It made the day I gave birth so seamless! I truly cannot recommend her enough. If your reading through other doula and trying to figure out if she is the one for you, consider this your sign 馃 you will be loved beyond measure and taken care of with so much kindness, empathy and grace. She truly made the birth of our second baby boy so peaceful and was an enormous help to my husband as well 馃

Bonney is an amazing doula! She's a great communicator, professional and well organized, but more importantly, she's one of the most patient, compassionate, and dedicated human beings I've ever met. She stayed with me through a long and difficult labor, rubbing my back, telling me what I needed to hear, encouraging me to keep going. She still texts me once in a while to remind me I'm alright, or remembering baby's milestones.

Highly recommend! Where do I start鈥擝onney was everything I didn't know I needed. She was thorough in her communication with us in the months and weeks leading up to our delivery experience. She arrived at the birthing facility prepared, and even brought things to help us have a more relaxing environment. Bonney was completely committed to centering our wishes. She was a tremendous adovcate for us, yet always reminded us that any decision was ultimately ours. We had previously talked about the vibe we wanted: chill music, low lighting, essential oils. Bonney did not disappoint. As a first time parent, I couldn't have imagined going through this life-changing experience without a doula in our corner. If you're looking for a person who cares, communicates, and is highly capable鈥攜ou've found them with Bonney Burton.

Words cannot begin to describe how amazing our experience was working with Bonney as our birth doula. I must first applaud her ability to communicate. She was prompt to respond to any and all questions I had leading up to my delivery date. As well, Bonney leveraged her background in childhood education and taught childbirth and postpartum information in way that was digestable to sufficiently prepare my partner and I for the birthing experience. During our time at the hospital, Bonney exuded a unique level of professionalism that I can honestly say also impressed each of the medical professionals we interacted with during our entire labor and delivery process. She continues to provide ongoing support during my postpartum journey, readily responding to all of my first-time parent questions. Because of this, I feel that she geniunely cares about me and my entire family's wellbeing. Most importantly, not only was she patiently in tuned with my ever changing physical and emotional needs during my laboring process, but her ability to serve as an advocate was paramount to me having the birthing experience I communicated from our very first interactions. I write this review while holding my beautiful baby girl and with immense gratitude for all of Bonney's incredible work as my doula. I highly recommend her!

Bonney was and still is a huge blessing for me and always there to come to during times of need. In the early days of postpartum, I struggled heavily with my confidence regarding breastfeeding. Multiple times, I considered quitting and switching to formula. Personally, this made me feel very defeated as I wanted so badly to be able to breastfeed. Every time I messaged Bonney, she was speedy in her response. She was always extremely kind, caring, understanding, and most importantly, encouraging. Even when I was in tears and overwhelmed with feelings of self-doubt, Bonney made me feel strong and determined. I couldn鈥檛 have asked for a better person to go to.
