Hey badass birthing warrior! I'm a mom of two tiny humans, a certified Birth Doula, Birth Photographer and Childbirth Educator serving expectant families throughout Southeast Michigan. I usually serve within an hour of Jackson, MI. I got my start in birth work by being a wedding and family photographer first. Then on Pinterest, I found birth photography photos and I thought it was beautiful. So I got into birth photography and was hooked. Then after I had my first kid, I took a birth doula training and realized that this was my calling. Not everyone has an empowering birth story and I want to help change the cultural attitude around birth by making them excited, (It's okay to be a little nervous!), confident and prepared for birth. Birth is a transformational experience for both the birthing person and their partner.

I found my passion for birth work in 2024 after having a triumphant unmedicated VBAC with my second child. I spent the year working closely with a Certified Professional Midwife handling midwifery administration and birth assisting. In my personal life, I have spent years as a patient advocate for chronically ill family members, and I understand the intricacies of navigating the healthcare system. Having an ideal birth looks different for each individual. My goal is to provide support and advocacy to enable my clients to achieve the birth of their dreams, whatever that may look like.

I am a certified birth and postpartum doula and co-owner of Gold Coast Doulas. I teach a comfort measures class and co-created the Becoming A Mother online course. I love interviewing guests on our Ask the Doulas podcast.
Kristin was a god send. She was constantly available and there to answer questions or put my worries to rest. The day I went into labor she was at the hospital so quick, put my husband and I at ease, and even took beautiful photos of the birth (which is what I asked) I wouldn’t have been able to do it without her!

I have been providing compassionate care for babies, children and adults for over 20 years. My love for helping others has helped me gain valuable experience as a teacher, youth treatment specialist, nanny, mentor, emotional support coach, and a caregiver for individuals with specials needs. I am also currently working on my yoga teacher certification and studying herbalism. Sara provided doula services for me during my pregnancy and birth. She was very kind, patient and listened to me when i expressed my personal needs. She worked hard to provide me a safe and quiet place during labor. The way she advocated for me is something I truly missed out on during my previous pregnancy. She brought so many goodies, essential oils, honey sticks and provided plenty of massages. She just knew what i needed and it really helped to have her there. When i think back to the birth of my son i can hear her voice reassuring me through the process, so nurturing and affirming!

It is paramount to me that my clients feel as welcome and as cared for as though they were members of my own family, in comparison to being a part of an uncaring system. I became a Mother in the Summer of 2014. If I'm being honest, I didn't put much thought into my first birth. I thought I'd just go into the hospital pregnant and come out with a baby. It wasn't until I was in labor and facing an emergency cesarean that I realized that my partner and I were unprepared and unsupported. It was after that first birth that I learned what a Doula was and the trajectory of my entire life shifted. I trained as a Birth Doula in 2016 and since that time I have attended over 160 births in hospitals, birth centers and in homes. In 2021 I have also been a local homebirth assistant since 2021 with my Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification. Over the years my views and beliefs surrounding birth have grown and evolved. I have studied not only the mechanics of the birth process, but the physiological, emotional and spiritual rite of passage that birth truly is. I believe that a beautiful birth experience can happen in any setting, but that it takes a combination of preparation, advocacy and a setting that supports your vision.
