About me

Hello my name is Arlena Spruill also know as the Sapphire Doula. I am a DONA International Birth Doula. I believe that providing doula services to expecting families is not a want but a necessity. I have been a doula for a year and a half and have serviced 15 families. I hope to service many more and hope to grow awareness and acceptance of doulas in all birth spaces. I am mother of 2 beautiful children both were vaginal births. One was an encaul birth that my husband had the honor of catching her with the midwife's assistance which was so beautiful. Because of my two births and having my late mother present at all of them providing what I didn't know at the time was Doula support. I decided that I needed to do the same for other mothers and that began my journey to becoming a doula.

What is a Doula?

a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to their client before, during and shortly after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.

Will I receive a refund if I give birth before my doula arrives?

Unfortunately no, there is a chance of you giving birth without your doula present. But this is ok because your doula would have prepared you and your loved ones prior to delivery which is why you were able to delivery without them present. But please always keep in contact with your doula. Some doulas such as myself offer virtual doula support until my arrival.

What if I end up having a C-section (Cesarean)?

Depending on the hospital and your condition I will continue my support in the ER with you. But If not my role will switch to support for your loved ones until you return then I will provide Postpartum care as discussed with a slight adjustments.
