Marr is the best doula! She provided the best experience. She scheduled appointments through zoom, even came to my Obgyn appointment, came home after delivery. She was always in touch via messages, answering my questions. She was helpful with lots of information such as yoga exercises, breathing techniques. She guided me during contractions through messages as well. And she did her best at the hospital itself. I felt so heard when she was there for me. She was like a relative and a medical worker at the same time. Without her help I couldn’t breathe even. I felt her support entirely. Thank you so so much I love you

Hello there! My name is Sharon Jensen-Cody, and I'm thrilled to connect with you here. In my world, I share my life with my wonderful husband and our 2 kids who fill our days with joy and surprises. My journey into the world of birth-work stems from a deep-rooted passion for pregnancy and childbirth that took hold of me at a young age. The pivotal moment came when I witnessed my sister giving birth when I was just 17. The duality of the experience, both challenging and profoundly beautiful, left an indelible mark on me. My mission as a DONA trained Birth Doula is rooted in empowering women to shape their birth experiences according to their desires. I am dedicated to championing maternal-fetal health and providing unwavering support to women as they embark on one of life's most incredible journeys. I am here to walk alongside you, offering mental, emotional, and physical guidance to make your birth journey a truly empowering and memorable one. I am also a certified pediatric sleep consultant, passionate about teaching families how to gain restorative sleep with their little ones. I look forward to the privilege of being a part of your birth story and helping you navigate this extraordinary time in your life.

Working with Sharon was one of the most reassuring parts of our entire birth experience. From the very beginning, her communication style put us at ease. She paid close attention to the details of our birth plan and made sure our preferences were understood and respected throughout the process. One thing we especially appreciated was her flexibility around when to join us at the hospital. She checked in often, helped us navigate the early stages from afar, and arrived right when we entered active labor. From that moment on, her presence made a noticeable difference. She helped lower our stress, and we trusted her implicitly in how she advocated for us with the nursing staff. Her strong rapport with the team at Woodland Hills Kaiser Permanente made everything feel that much smoother. Sharon’s depth of experience came through in every interaction. She was calm when we needed calm, confident when we needed guidance, and always focused on making sure we felt supported. We’re incredibly grateful for her and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to any family looking for a doula who is both highly skilled and genuinely compassionate. 10 out of 10 would highly recommend.

Birth and babies are my passions. I started the journey to becoming a birth doula shortly after having my second baby, Colton. My first and second births were completely night and day. My first baby, Caleb, was an incredibly long and strenuous labor; a total of 72 hours. With my second, however, I was only in labor for a total of 25 hours, which still is very long, but not by comparison. I owe a lot of that to my amazing birth team I had for my second birth, which included a midwife and doula support, and the education I gained throughout my pregnancy on how to prepare my body for birth. I believe in a holistic approach to birth. I don't think birth should be treated as a medical emergency until proven that it needs to be. Birth is a natural, beautiful thing, and while modern medicine absolutely has its place, I don't think it automatically belongs in every birth space. That said, I support every way to give birth, because in the end you're the only one in control. If you want an epidural, membrane sweep, Pitocin, all the drugs, I will absolutely support your decision. Or if you want to deny all cervical checks, do intermittent monitoring, and have your baby in the tub, that's great by me too! My priority as your doula would be to give you access to all the information you need to make well informed choices and give you the support you need to make your birth experience exactly what you want

I cannot say enough amazing things about Mary and Lotus Doula Tribe. Having her by my side through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum was honestly a God send. Even though I ultimately needed a C-section, she still showed up for me in more ways than I can count. Her presence, support, love and wisdom were monumental in my recovery, and I know we are so blessed to have had her by our side. She held space for me, reminded me of my strength, and helped me navigate decisions with confidence. Her calm, grounding energy was such a gift to our whole family. I’m endlessly grateful for her role in my journey and couldn’t imagine doing it without her. If you’re looking for someone who truly cares and will walk alongside you every step of the way, Mary is the one. 💛

Hello! I’m Lindsay, a birth and postpartum doula and mom of 2. I became passionate about maternal wellness when I was expecting my first child in Norway. I received such quality care — midwives, visiting baby nurses, cushy parental leave! — but I was still missing the emotional support and expertise I needed to help me navigate a foreign medical system and the many anxieties I held as a first time parent. Since then, I’ve learned from hundreds of parents that they, too, needed more support than was available to them. Often times, they felt others were pushing an agenda that was not in their best interest. I became a doula to help change that, one family at a time. I’m here to hold space for you, learn with you, ease your fears, and empower you to feel confident through this important time in your life. If you are looking for a doula to help you birth and nurture your child on your own terms, please consider booking a free consultation with me. I’d love to learn more about you and see if we are a good fit.

Asking Lindsay to be our Doula and specifically assist with postpartum care is the best decision we could have made as parents. Our second born was much more challenging than our first and loved to scream all hours of the day. Not only is Lindsay educated, great at explaining things, and creative, she also has a very patient and calming presence that we desperately needed. SOme of the other Doulas I met were too "out there" and I appreciated Lindsay's "down to earth" responses that were kind and intelligent. She helped us feel confident and stay focused and calm when we thought we couldn't handle the screaming anymore. She gave us reassurance even as second time parents, we couldn't have done it without her!

I hired Wendy to be my birth doula. as we got to know each other during the prenatal visits, I decided to also hire her for postpartum help. Wendy's approach to caring for me was so genuine, calm and patient. She is very knowledgeable. She always made sure that my needs were met. She went with me to the pediatrician and my OB appointment. She went grocery shopping for me; she took care of my baby while I napped and showered.

JD was everything we could want in a doula and more than we knew to ask for. They weren't just incredibly supportive and helpful during the labor and delivery, but they were curious about us and our relationship and family and how that might influence what we would need or want when the time came. the time came unexpectedly and suddenly and JD was still there through the whole thing. My partner is nonbinary and JD was there with they/them reminders when we were exhausted, in addition to advocating for us with hospital staff, anticipating needs and bringing extra love and comfort to our efforts.

My journey into the world of doula work is deeply rooted in my personal experiences and commitment to serving marginalized communities. As a Black Jamaican queer woman who has navigated the complexities of raising a family and building a career in diverse environments, I have come to understand the profound impact of culturally competent and empathetic support during the transformative experiences of reproductive care and justice framework, childbirth, lactation, postpartum, newborn care, bereavement and grief support. I began my career as a full-spectrum doula inspired by my own birthing challenges and experiences, I am a mother of 4 (twin daughter 33 and sons 25 and 22), however, what struck me harder than my own challenges, were the facts, stories, challenges and barriers that black mothers/birthers and their infants were experiencing. The Black maternal/prenatal and infant mortality rate in America is alarming and according to the CDC, “Black women in the United States are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than White women. In 2022, the maternal mortality rate for Black women/birthers was 49.5 deaths per 100,000 live births, which is higher than the rates for White (19.0), Hispanic (16.9), and Asian (13.2) women/birthers. Some factors that contribute to these disparities include: Variation in quality healthcare, Underlying chronic conditions, Structural racism, Implicit bias, and lack of access to paid parental leave.” I wanted to be part of the solution, I began by becoming a newborn care specialist and now I've expanded my services to include full-spectrum doula, radical reproductive justice advocacy, death, grief, end-of-life doula and future IBCLC and midwife. Beginning with self, propelled me into what had been calling me for decades. Here I am, more ready than ever to expand my career and serve my community. Helping others understand the unique challenges black birthers face, is one of my goals, understanding the problems is the first step in working towards the solution. The realization I found is that many Black families do not receive the support they need to thrive. These realizations propelled me into expanding my career as a newborn care specialist to include full-spectrum doula, lactation educator, death and end-of-life doula and currently working towards becoming a childbirth educator, IBCLC and eventually a midwife. My work has always been centered around advocacy for BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ communities, ensuring that all families, regardless of their background, receive the compassionate and personalized care they deserve. In my practice I center black and brown folks and prioritize a holistic approach that encompasses not only the physical aspects of reproductive health care but also the emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being of my clients, their partners and their family members. I believe that they all deserve to feel empowered, respected, and supported throughout the birthing person's journey and other reproductive health care scenarios. This belief drives me to provide comprehensive care that includes prenatal visits, continuous labor support, immediate postpartum lactation support, postpartum visits, newborn care and when needed abortion support, bereavement and grief support. My goal is to create a safer and nurturing environment where my clients, their partners, and family members, can feel heard, valued, and confident in the birthing person’s birth choices and beyond. Whatever their reproductive heath care needs may be. One of the core tenets of my philosophy is the importance of community and connection. I actively engage with support groups, and I'm looking forward to connecting with clinics, hospitals, community and faith-based organizations, and through social media, to support and advocate for reproductive health care rights and justice, recruiting clients and building a network of support. I understand that addressing the disproportionately high rates of Black/African American infant and maternal/prenatal/infant mortality rates in this country requires a collective effort. By fostering strong relationships within communities, I aim to raise awareness of the value of Black doula support and ensure that more Black families have access to these vital services. I am committed to continuous learning and professional development. Attending trainings on lactation, trauma-informed care, full spectrum doula support, newborn care, lactation education, bereavement and grief support, billing and including sliding scales to increase accessibility, and data collection allows me to provide the highest standard of care and to be inclusive to my clients and my community. Moreover, I value the opportunity to present my work and facilitate client support groups, as these activities help to amplify the voices of Black families and promote best practices and cultural traditions, within the doula community. What matters most to me when supporting clients and their families is their autonomy and dignity. EVERY birthing person should have the RIGHT to make informed decisions about their care, and it is my role to provide them with the information, resources, and emotional support they need to do so. I strive to be a compassionate advocate, a reliable partner, and a source of strength for my clients, their families and the communities I serve, by helping them navigate their unique paths to parenthood, reproductive health care, midlife care and through death/dying/end-of-life care, bereavement, and grief, with confidence and grace and to provide support to their folks and to communities in which they live.
