Giselle Cardona-Miroff

Hi there! I am Giselle, a certified labor doula serving the Hudson Valley. I bring over four years of experience in the healthcare industry, with a strong focus on serving high-priority and vulnerable populations, including individuals living with HIV, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and people from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds. Through this work, I have learned the importance of meeting people with respect, compassion, and cultural humility. I have worked alongside individuals of many backgrounds and religious beliefs, and my Faith has guided me in building genuine connections across differences by leading with empathy, service, and understanding. As a Latina and first-generation American, I deeply understand the importance of education, representation, and support within vulnerable communities. This background allows me to approach birth work with sensitivity, inclusivity, and a commitment to ensuring that every birthing person feels respected, supported, and cared for. I felt called to become a labor doula after the birth of my son. Although my baby and I were healthy, my experience was shaped by an unexpected emergency induction. Throughout my pregnancy, I had taken the time to educate myself and prepare, yet in that moment, much of what I had learned felt difficult to access without steady guidance and support. That experience revealed to me how vital it is to have someone present who can offer reassurance, clarity, and calm during such a vulnerable time. My calling to birth work is rooted not only in my personal experience, but also in my deep desire to serve others. We often hear that it takes a village to raise a child, yet we frequently overlook the importance of supporting the person bringing that child into the world. My purpose is to help support the birthing person emotionally, physically, and informationally, so they feel seen, empowered, and cared for during one of the most transformative moments of their lives. - Others often comment on my professionalism, integrity, and strong work ethic qualities that have consistently helped build trust in meaningful and vulnerable moments. I am deeply committed to showing up with consistency, accountability, and care in every role I take on. Throughout my career in patient-focused industries, I have received positive feedback and recognition from multiple supervisors, as well as from spiritual leaders I’ve collaborated with on various projects. This feedback reflects not only my compassionate, client-centered approach, but also my dedication to excellence, follow-through, and long-term impact.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about my experience with Ireta Hunter. From the moment labor began, she was a calming and reassuring presence. She stayed right by my side, rubbing my feet through contractions, offering words of encouragement, and helping me stay grounded and focused. She recommended sitting on the peanut ball during my labor and it was a game changer from my previous labor. Because of her support, I was able to have the natural birth I had hoped for—it was truly an empowering experience that I will carry with me forever. She reminded me of my strength at every step, and I felt safe, supported, and confident in my choices. Even after birth, she continued to check in and offer postpartum support, which meant so much during those first tender days. Her compassion, knowledge, and gentle presence made such a difference in my journey in motherhood. If you’re looking for a doula who is not only skilled but truly cares about you as a whole person, I wholeheartedly recommend Ireta Hunter. She helped me welcome my baby into the world in the most beautiful way, and I am endlessly grateful.

Liz was an amazing instructor; I loved her class so much I connected her and my doula to refer each other! Everything learned in class will be wonderful to have in my treasure chest on my birthing day. It was great she included my husband Anthony as well. The videos were great to see and I couldn’t be more obsessed with rainbow tapes! They’ve literally saved my sleeping!! Hypnobirthing is an amazing concept I want everyone to know about and believe in. We don’t need medication or to be uncomfortable. We need to believe in ourselves and Liz did a wonderful job teaching us this 🙂 thank you Liz!” -Lauren B. Had a wonderful experience taking this HypnoBirthing course! I would highly recommend, Liz’s knowledge and dedication is phenomenal. -Julia W. I completed my HypnoBirthing course with Liz when I was 34 weeks pregnant. Liz was down-to-earth, eager to help and support. With the knowledge from Liz’s course and the tools given to us by HypnoBirthing Mommys, we were able to do a completely unmedicated birth. I was able to labor primarily at home and was able to manage my surges just with our HypnoBirthing tools. When we went to the hospital, the doctors and nurses were surprised at my demeanor (at first they did not believe I was in labor and talked about sending me home). They asked my husband if I was always this calm and controlled. I attribute this to having gone through the HypnoBirthing Mommys course and practicing for the five weeks between starting the course and when our son was born. As someone who was very worried about having a traumatic birth, I cannot advocate enough for this course and Liz as an instructor! -Danielle J.

I am also trained in Spinning Babies techniques, lactation support, and Baby and Child First Aid. I offer my clients a very hands-on approach to birth support. I take my job as a birth doula very seriously and give my all to every birth I attend - emotionally and physically.

Yasmina was a vital part of my second pregnancy and labor and delivery. I don’t know what I would have done without her. To give some background, I had an emergency cerclage put in and I reached out to Yasmina after to inquire about her doula services. She listened to my concerns, my backstory, and my wishes. Not only was she attentive and caring, but because she knew there was a possibility the baby would be born early, she had a backup doula in case she was not back from out of town. That doula was also so attentive and was full of knowledge as well. Yasmina checked in with me consistently and when it was time, she came to the hospital immediately after I confirmed she should come. When there, she had so many strategies to help calm my mind and my body. She helped me think through decisions when it came to my labor and the hospital/doctors and she advocated for me. Yasmina knew I wanted to go natural/no epidural or Pitocin and we made a plan to do so. As the pain got more and more intense, she was encouraging and suggested different positions and coached me through the contractions and hard times. She applied pressure and made suggestions and had music and lighting and smells to set the scene in addition to different tools to help me through. I was in labor for about 3 hours and when it came time that I felt I couldn’t go any further because the pain was a 10/10, she continuously cheered me on until it was time to push. While pushing she advocated for me when I couldn’t even talk. When things got scary after baby came out, she held my hand and calmed me. After things were settled she made sure I was okay before she left. Afterwards, she checked up on me many times. I was not able to have a doula during my first labor because it was during COVID, Yasmina made my second labor a COMPLETELY different experience in a positive way. The first time I tore a second degree and my cervix lacerated, the second time with her I only had first degree tears and a good recovery and I truly believe it was because she calmed me and helped me relax my body as much as possible during labor. I highly recommend Yasmina to be your doula. She is knowledgeable, understanding and good at what she does!

Carolynn was AMAZING. She helped us get through the first few weeks with our newborn. She taught us several tips and tricks for soothing him and helping with gas, and she was a great source of emotional support throughout these early days. She helped us think through decisions around feeding and talked through many options. She’s knowledgeable, professional, calm, and very supportive. I highly recommend her!

Hazel is AMAZING! This was my second birth. my last experience with doula was okay, so I was very hesitant to get a doula this time. But I'm so so glad that I did because it made a HUGE difference. First I really appreciate the prep visit at my house. we talked about my preference and a mindset prep which helped me through labor. She was always on top of texts, calls and emails for questions, and would check in front time to time in between. When my labor started, even with the previous experience, we were still a little nervous. So she came to our house right away and helped me through the labor. She also took care of the communication with my midwife, which took a big burden off me when I was in pain. I chose natural delivery with no meds, and her counter pressure techniques really helped me through the pain. She was there from the beginning till I was released (a few hours after birth) and got me into the car. We had a postpartum visit and she massaged my belly and used moxie sticks on me. It felt really good. I felt really cared for the whole time. Had my sister lived closer, I'd have booked Hazel for her birth!

— Febriana F., review of Hazel Alvarez June 2026

First let me say Hazel was amazing! From the initial conference on zoom my husband and I knew she was a great fit. She was very knowledgeable about natural labor and hospital systems that my husband and I wanted to avoid. After having a c-section and wanting to go for a VBAC, I needed someone who was on board and strong enough to go against the “system”. Her in person consultation reassured us even more that she was the perfect doula to support us during this process. When I went into labor at 4 am she was available, responsive, and timely. She came right when I needed her to. During the birthing process, Hazel truly amazed me. She was prepared and did all the things necessary to keep me as comfortable as possible. She put pressure on my back, labor comb, the cloth hang thing (forgot what it was called), honey sticks, water. What I loved the most was her calm spirit and reassuring voice. She made me feel so safe, and comfortable that I progressed rather quickly and wound up delivering my baby right at home in my basement. She told my husband what to do so he can catch our daughter and she cared for our baby when she came out. She accompanied us to the hospital and once I was settled she left. She also did a postpartum in home visit and helped with some house hold things and baby stuff. I was beyond blessed to have Hazel as my doula. She was more than what I expected and could ask for. I never thought labor and delivery could be that peaceful after having a traumatic experience turned c-section with my first child. But I reclaimed my power thanks to Hazel. My husband and I still talk about our birthing experience and give so much credit to her for it. 10/10 highly recommend!
