My name is Laurie Wood and I am passionate about supporting families through the incredible journey of childbirth and beyond. With a gentle touch and a compassionate heart, I’m here to ensure you feel empowered and cared for every step of the way. Before becoming a doula, I spent 30 years as a public school educator, working closely with children and families through meaningful milestones. My own positive birth experiences—including the birth of my first child with the support of a midwife—deepened my belief in the need for compassionate, informed care. I know that birth can feel overwhelming or uncertain, and I believe women have a unique and powerful ability to support all birthing parents through it. As a doula, I bring warmth, calm, and a steady presence to help you feel safe, supported, and confident throughout your pregnancy and birth experience. I have a blended family of six grown children and nine wonderful grandchildren who keep me closely connected to both the joys and challenges of raising children in today’s ever-changing world. Their presence in my life reminds me daily how each parenting journey is unique—and how important it is to feel supported, heard, and encouraged as a parent.

As part of prenatal support, clients receive one to two in-home visits to build rapport, explore birth preferences, and practice comfort measures. From the time the contract is signed until four weeks postpartum, clients have access to unlimited phone, text, and email support (with email responses within 24 hours). Labor support includes 24/7 on-call availability beginning at 38 weeks of pregnancy, with continuous physical or virtual support during labor starting in active labor or earlier by agreement. Immediate postpartum support is provided for at least one hour after birth, including help with chest/breastfeeding. Postpartum care also includes one follow-up visit around 10–14 days after birth and an optional virtual check-in between days 5–10. Referrals for additional postpartum support are available upon request.
Laurie provided great support and assistance at my birth. I was a first time mom I wasn’t sure what to expect but Laurie made sure to walk me through things so I felt better prepared going in. During birth she was a calm, quiet presence being there to support but not interfering with the experience between my husband and I. She advocated for me in times I wasn’t able to and made sure my husband and I we fully informed about everything that was happening. I would definitely use her services again and recommend her to anyone else I know.
