I have approximately 33 years of experience in the Human Services field, but in May of 2021 I answered the call to become a Certified Wholistic Birth Doula. I had the awesome pleasure of studying under Mama Mawusi Ashshakir, founder of The Mothership. What is a doula, you may ask. A doula is a trained companion who supports women through pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage, lactation and other postpartum events. Hi my name is Jessica! I live in Denver on our family farm with my husband and 2 kids. I’ve been passionate about pregnancy and childbirth since I can remember. I originally trained as a birth doula in 2011, gained some experience and then we started our own family. The doula lifestyle wasn’t something that worked for us while my babies were small. I took about 10 years off from birth work (besides doing births for family) until 2023 when I felt called back to birth work, and I re-trained and certified. I deeply enjoy getting to know my clients and assisting with getting them confident and ready for their birth. I hope to provide my clients with everything they need to make informed decisions that are right for them, feeling confident to advocate for themselves and bringing a calming presence into their birth space, whether that’s at home, at the birth center or a hospital.
