As a postpartum doula, I provide Emotional & Physical Support • Provide a calm, nurturing presence for the birthing person and family. • Offer reassurance, encouragement, and a listening ear. • Support recovery after childbirth — including rest, comfort measures, and body awareness. • Encourage hydration, nourishment, and self-care practices. Additionally Newborn & Infant Care • Assist with newborn soothing, swaddling, bathing, and diapering. • Educate parents on baby cues, sleep patterns, and gentle routines. • Monitor feeding patterns and assist with bottle-feeding or pumping guidance. • Support breastfeeding (basic latch help, positioning, and emotional reassurance). Family Support • Light household tasks related to baby care (laundry, tidying, bottles, etc.). • Meal prep or light snacks for the recovering parent. • Care for baby while parent naps or showers. • Help older siblings adjust to the new baby’s arrival. Educational Guidance • Share evidence-based information about postpartum recovery and infant care. • Provide referrals to trusted specialists (lactation consultants, mental health professionals, etc.). • Teach soothing techniques and newborn safety practices. As a NCS, I provide Nighttime / Sleep Support • Care for the newborn during overnight shifts so parents can rest. • Track sleep, feeding, and diaper logs. • Support healthy sleep habits and routines. • Provide guidance on safe sleep environments. Feeding Support • Handle bottle prep, sterilization, and feeding schedules. • Bring the baby to the parent for breastfeeding if needed. • Burp and settle the baby back to sleep. Newborn Wellness • Observe and report any changes in baby’s behavior, feeding, or diaper output. • Maintain a clean, organized nursery environment. • Offer gentle, consistent care following family preferences.
