Chelsea Da Paz
About me
Hi there! I'm Chelsea – a wife, stay-at-home parent of two, certified birth and postpartum doula, and babywearing educator based in Connecticut. With over two decades of experience working with children and families, my journey includes a master's degree in education and 11 years of teaching music to students from PreK through grade 12. My path to becoming a doula was inspired by the isolating and challenging nature of the postpartum months. Having navigated this journey myself, I realized the importance of support during this period. I aim to alleviate the isolation many face by offering guidance and understanding. Having been the first in my friend group to experience parenthood, I understand the complexities and uncertainties. My role is to provide a compass, steering you away from the confusing and sometimes overwhelming information available online. Join me in creating a supportive community, where I offer education, solidarity, empowerment, strength, and empathy to ease your transition into parenthood

Chelsea was referred to me by a postpartum doula in my first trimester. She was the only birth doula I interviewed because I knew right away that she was the right woman for the job: A no-BS, science-based, level-headed millennial with just the right dose of sarcasm. Ahead of birth, Chelsea visited with me and my husband twice to give us crash courses in labor/delivery, Spinning Baby techniques, and Baby Basics 101 (changing a diaper, installing and using a car seat, swaddling, and babywearing). Thanks to her prep, we felt far less anxious going into labor. At the hospital, it was clear that she has mastered the perfect balance of calm encouragement and strong advocacy with medical providers. She always stays professional, but is never afraid to push back on your behalf. I went through a pretty long and difficult labor but thanks to the support of Chelsea and her colleague Rachel, who joined us for the second half through delivery, I never felt afraid, powerless, or unsafe. After birth, we continued to retain Chelsea's services as long as we could as an overnight/postpartum doula, allowing my husband and I to get much-needed rest as we both went back to work immediately. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Chelsea for any doula needs.

I hired Chelsea for my second baby with the goal to go unmedicated. Chelsea was very supportive in educating me and my partner leading up to the big day, and at the hospital. Due to some complications with baby's positioning, I had a unplanned c-section. I was so relieved to have Chelsea there for me for the moments leading up to the surgery. She made me feel like I did everything I could and knew what my options were during my experience. She was worth every penny to have her as a resource. I believe my post partum experience has been so positive because with Chelsea's guidance, I know I uncovered every possible stone to stick to my birth plan, even with the emergency C-section. She's fantastic and has such a welcoming, easy going personality. I will be recommending her to my friends/family!

Chelsea was the doula for our second child. She was incredible to work with! She was caring, professional, knowledgeable, and supportive throughout the whole process. She worked exceptionally well with the medical team at the hospital, and the nurses and midwife were highly complimentary of Chelsea after our delivery. I appreciated her straightforward communication and sense of humor- all made for a great delivery and doula experience! We highly recommend her services.

Something about Chelsea just clicked in that video call, and I’m so glad we chose her. She was always just a text or call away, responding every “silly” question during my pregnancy. She was herself and if there were something she didn’t know we would make a plan together and figure it out. She guided me through the whole process, breathing and slowing me down. She was very on point on telling me “ok, now we’re going to do this, now this, this is not working let’s try this, ok time to move, change this, etc.” I loved how she included my partner on everything and guided us together. Chelsea was really honest literally about everything I wanted and most importantly what I needed. I always had the final decision but she was there for us to help guide us into every single decision which I wanted because I come from a place where 90% of the time a lot of unnecessary procedures are done. This was crucial for me, to be able to have someone grounded to tell me, “you don’t need to decide right now, we can talk through it and make an informed decision.” Chelsea was exactly that person for us and for that I’m forever grateful. I’m so thankful we had the opportunity to have this extra help, very grateful for everything she did.

Chelsea was a God send! I was on the fence about hiring a doula. Was this something I should spend money on? Can't my partner and I do it alone? Of course we could have done it alone, however it was worth every penny to have Chelsea by our side! I wanted a natural birth with low/no intervention as it aligned with our lifestyle. Unfortunately my body had other plans and fought every step of the way. It was comforting to have Chelsea to look to as interventions came up like 'is this the only option?'. Chelsea offered support and birthing positional changes. It was a relief to have her there as a second support person to take some pressure off my husband as well. It was great to have the prenatal appointments as an opportunity to get to know Chelsea better (even though we vibed off the rip) but also for her help with car seats, baby wearing, birth plans etc. Postpartum checkin was like debriefing with a friend. Even though we have been through it once, I would hire her again for our second child. I would highly recommend Chelsea for your birth support!

I'm a first-time mom and I'm so happy that I hired a doula to help me through the process. Chelsea Da Paz was recommended to me through word-of-mouth and I liked her vibe from the beginning. It was important to me that my doula was culturally sensitive since all my family is Deaf and uses Sign (both me and my husband can hear) but many people might get hung up on it. She was a smooth operator making space for the communication to be interpreted so that my family can be involved, while coaching me when I needed it during that final push! 10/10 I strongly recommend any first time mom to get a doula, and if you do get a doula- get Chelsea!
