Hi! I'm Candace, a birth and postpartum doula in the Wooster, OH (and surrounding) area. Originally from Ontario, Canada, I completed my training with Childbirth International and am 99% done with my certification requirements. I believe all moms deserve to have a positive and informed birth & postpartum experience, and I am passionate about providing that 1-on-1 education and care. I'd love to assist you in either your pregnancy & birth or postpartum experience, so feel free to reach out!
Childbirth International Birth Doula (2026)
English
Birth Doula: Overall, my role is to help equip and educate you and your partner so you can experience a birth where you feel empowered and satisfied with your choices. Here’s how I do that: I provide 2-3 prenatal appointments where we can discuss any questions you have about your pregnancy, nutrition, birth prep, etc., and we can go over a birth plan and preferences. I'm reachable by text or phone call for any emergencies or questions in between meetings. During your birth, I provide virtual support in early labor and in-person support as labor progresses, either joining you at your home or the hospital. I provide insight and advice for labor positions, pain-management techniques, and physical support for pain relief as well. I stay after the birth to make sure you and the baby are doing well, and help establish breastfeeding if that is desired. I provide a postpartum visit around 6 weeks to provide support and answers for any questions or challenges you may have. My role is never to tell you what to do, but to support you in YOUR choices, since this is YOUR birth and baby. Postpartum Doula: Overall, my role is to help you feel confident, equipped, and educated as a new mom. Here’s how I do that: I officially begin care after your birth, with ideally one prenatal appointment to discuss expectations and answer any questions. Depending on which package you choose, I provide support multiple days or nights per week, for a set number of weeks. During that time, I provide education on postpartum recovery, newborn sleep, feeding, elimination patterns, and breastfeeding, helping establish a good latch and troubleshoot some of the common breastfeeding struggles that appear in the early postpartum period. My skills offer help with baby care, such as bottle feeding, changing, bathing, and establishing healthy sleep patterns, and household tasks, such as baby laundry, dishes, baby organization, and meal/food preparation. My role is never to tell you what to do, or make you feel pushed into anything, but to educate you on your options, and then support whatever choices you make. This is YOUR postpartum experience, and I want to make it as smooth and empowering as possible.
When my birth plan was turned upside down going from a home birth to a hospital induction, Candace was an amazing support. Not just physically when I was going through contractions but also mentally and emotionally beforehand. She helped me put together a hospital birth plan, helped answer questions I didn’t even have to think about with my original birth plan. When she showed up at the hospital her calming energetic personality helped me to stay focused throughout all my contractions and she was a great distraction in the beginning part of my labor. I don’t know how I would have done it without her. Just knowing I had someone there with me who is as skilled and knowledgeable as Candace when it came to both my birth plan and labor and delivery got me through so much. I wouldn’t want to go through a birth, home or hospital without her help!
