Service introduction
We’re Angela and Kathryn the midwives behind Aquarius Midwifery. We have a combined 20 years of experience as birth workers. We both started out as doulas in 2012 and worked independently and as partners serving hundreds of families in Contra Costa County and the Tri-Valley. Now as midwives we offer that same physical and emotional support to our midwifery clients and their families as we do for our doula clients. We are thrilled to be able to interweave our clinical knowledge with the wisdom we gained as doulas to ensure our clients have the safest and most comfortable birth experience possible. We are graduates of The National Midwifery Institute, Certified Professional Midwives and are licensed by the Medical Board of California. Our passion is supporting people though this life changing event and feel it’s truly a privilege to be able to do this work and to honor the journey through pregnancy, birth and into parenthood.

Angela was very helpful in guiding us on our 2nd child birth and giving us very helpful advice in just a 45 minute initial consultation. Unfortunately we couldn't go with them for logistical reasons but would love to use them in the future if possible!

I knew from the moment I found out I was pregnant that I wanted to have a home birth, I wanted to have a say in all things related to my birth and I didnt think that would happen in the hospital. Angela and Kathryn were wonderful to work with. Each session they really gave me time and space to share ANYTHING I was going through and never made me feel rushed or unimportant. They really cared about me and my experience. They always answered all my questions even when I texted them outside of sessions, I always got a quick response which was so nice! The appointments in the hospital do not even compare to what I got with these two ladies. They actually cared and gave me the time of day. My birth did not go as I had planned and I was having a lot of 'failure' feelings about that. Angela and Kathryn really helped me see the reality of what happened during my birth and made me see it in a different light. Instead of my being a failure, I was a warrior! This experience has definitely made me feel stronger and more empowered as a woman. If I can go through that, then I can do anything!

I had a terrible experience with my first birth in the hospital with standard care. I wanted to be in the care of someone that aligned with what I wanted and believed in. Angela, was wonderful, warm, welcoming and caring. She encouraged me and gave advice that was so helpful! I wouldn’t be where I’m at in my mom journey without her! Every time I met Angela was important to me, it was like meeting with an old friend or sister. I was especially thankful for the advice for the breastfeeding book she recommended-that was life-changing. My time in the hospital visits were stressful and traumatic, so, the hands-on care that was provided was a breath of fresh air. I felt heard and seen. Even when I had to go to the hospital, Angela was an advocate by my side. Her advice and visits during the postpartum phase were wonderful as well. I felt like Angela took the time to care for me AND my baby. With midwifery care, the baby is a patient as well. There is less unnecessary poking and prodding and much more love and attention. With the standard care given by doctors, they are often cold and even demeaning. They look at things backwards and always act as if you or your baby is sick and dying until proven otherwise. I wasn’t able to have a home birth, but still had a vbac in the hospital, I didn’t give up and I found strength and resilience that I didn’t have previously. I was able to really listen to my body and do what I and baby needed.

Angela was such a dream to have at our birth. She is knowledgeable in all areas and made us feel fully confident and comfortable throughout the entire pregnancy and birth. She is thorough, patient and kind. We we’re blessed to have her as our midwife. We couldn’t recommend her more to anyone considering a homebirth. Best decision ever. Angela, thank you for everything!!!!

We chose to hire Angela & Kathryn because it was clear they were passionate about what they do and have a lot of knowledge. The return on our investment in Kathryn and Angela was immeasurable. Money comes and goes. The birth of our son was the most awe inspiring moment of our lives and having Angela and Kathryn was priceless.
