About me

Hi there! I’m Amanda, the body & soul behind Solstice Birthwork. I became a certified full-spectrum doula through the TrustHer initiative to improve maternal health in Tarrant County. I offer support for fertility, pregnancy, postpartum and lactation in Fort Worth and the surrounding metroplex. My own experiences with pregnancy, labor, postpartum & lactation fueled me to develop a space where all families could be heard, honored & allowed to heal. I have a passion for advocacy & informed consent, I recognize the need for modern medicine but love a good holistic option first, and probably know every word to TSwift’s discography.

Preconception / Fertility support: As a fertility doula I can help you understand your cycle, ovulation window, & how to optimize your fertility Prenatal, Perinatal & Labor support: fully customizable packages to fit the needs of you & your growing family Postpartum Recovery support: postpartum support designed to "mother the mother" & support the entire family through this transition! Lactation Support: Lactation support as a student ibclc & breastfeeding mom for 36 months, to help you reach your lactation goals

My postpartum doula services are designed to "mother the mother," along with offering support to the whole family. I offer tips on newborn care, breastfeeding support, emotional reassurance, and practical assistance to help you and your partner transition into parenthood. Frequently asked questions

How do I know what doula is right for me?

Only you can answer that question for yourself. I have had the pleasure of meeting, working with & befriending many birthworkers in the area, and they all hold a special place in my heart. I recommend asking your OB/midwife, researching options in your area, & setting up consultations with anyone you think you vibe with. Birth journeys are life-changing, sacred, special -- it’s important to find someone who shares your mindset.

Why did you choose the name “Solstice Birthwork?”

The summer solstice is considered a the start of a new chapter in both life and nature. It is the moment of the year where the most light is available to us, and as the Sun represents consciousness - it is the moment where we are most fully present to ourselves. The winter solstice is marks the longest night of the year, and represents the symbolic death and subsequent rebirth of the Sun - a true turning point in who we believe we are. I believe that pregnancy and postpartum can be related to both solstices, as a sacred journey of birth and rebirth into new consciousness. I personally struggled with my transition into parenthood, and spent more time trying to “bounce back” into the version of myself that existed before babies, stretch marks and leaky breasts - instead of embracing my rebirth as a mother. I want to offer a safe space for parents to acknowledge and celebrate this transition.

What if I want a fully medicated hospital birth?

I LOVE that for you, and I cannot wait to support you in that journey. Doulas are for every birth, every mother / birthing person - and what was right for your mother, your neighbor, your best friend, or even myself probably won’t be exactly what is right for you in this journey. I am here to ensure you are fully educated in all the options available to you, and help you make the choice that is best for you & your family.
